2025 On3 Industry Ranking No. 1 LB Jonah Williams recaps Texas trip

Jonah Williams had seen Texas enough early in his recruitment to know he needed to make it back to Austin this summer.
He hit the Texas pool party on Thursday and came away impressed with what the Longhorns are building.
“It’s always good being in my hometown, being at the school my brother thought about going to, it’s just always a blessing being able to take visits with my family,” Williams told Inside Texas. “My brother lives here. Just another chance to build a relationship with Coach (Jeff) Choate and staff. You know, it’s great day and I can’t complain.”
The On3 Industry Ranking No. 1 linebacker from Galveston (Texas) Ball High School is the On3 No. 2-rated LB for the 2025 cycle. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder also excels on the diamond as a left-handed pitching prospect, whose older brother, Nick Williams, was once a rising MLB prospect in the Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies system.
Williams was able to watch Texas workout and liked the player-led practice.
“It was a good feeling knowing that they all have leaders even when the coaches aren’t there,” said Williams.
It’s early but where do the Horns stand in Williams’ recruitment?
“I mean, I really liked the campus, players, and everything,” Williams said. “The coaches, they’re all great people. They always ask me how I’m doing so that’s always a good thing. I’ve been here five times now. More than likely, I’ll be here for some games (this fall).”
With double-digit offers entering his junior campaign, Williams dropped a top schools list in early June; Texas, TCU, Tennessee, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Oregon and Arizona State all made the cut.
Williams will be at Texas A&M on Saturday for an unofficial visit, he tells Inside Texas.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Williams ranks as the No. 21 overall prospect in the country, No. 1 linebacker in the nation and No. 4 prospect in Texas. Texas leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over Texas A&M for Williams, 45.4% and 12.1% respectively.
