Top 2025 safety target Ethan Long recaps summer visit to Michigan

Michigan assistant Jay Harbaugh is one of the best evaluators of talent on staff and recently dipped into Connecticut to offer fast-rising 2025 safety Ethan Long.
The Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School product was fired up when the scholarship came his way.
“Michigan was one of my dream schools,” Long said. “I always watched them growing up. Earning that offer was a great accomplishment. There is still work to do, but it felt great to get recognized and earn that offer.”
Long rewarded Michigan by making his first-ever trip to Ann Arbor for an unofficial visit last month.
“Getting out there was great,” Long said. “I enjoyed meeting the coaches and seeing how they work. The facilities were great. It’s Michigan, obviously. I liked watching the players work out. I toured around the campus. It was a great time.”
Another highlight was getting to spend extended time with the aforementioned Harbaugh, who broke down film and got to know Long on a personal level.
“He loves me,” Long said. “We’re building that connection. He went through my film and broke it down. It really helped me improve my game. He’s a really energetic guy. He has a love and passion for the game. It’s great to see a coach care about his players like he does.”
Long has a connection to Michigan through former Brunswick School recruit and U-M senior wide receiver Cornelius Johnson. And yes, Johnson is actively recruiting Long.
“I work out with him all the time,” Long said. “He tells me so much about Michigan, and it’s just like ‘wow, this place is like home.’ He feels so comfortable there. He told me the education is great and that it makes you open up and find your true self.
“He told me the big saying is ‘those who stay will be champions’ and that ‘if you work hard, you’ll earn that trophy.’ He also told me to trust my heart, but that Michigan is a great place to be.”
So where does Michigan stand early in his process?
“They are definitely up there,” Long said. “They treated me like their own. Their brotherhood is unmatched. They stick together and won’t leave a man behind. They bring kids from all over, but it looks like they’ve been together for 10 years. That’s what sticks out to me.”
Along with Michigan, Long has offers from Boston College, Maryland, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and others.
At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Long is not ranked at this time.
