2026 Mater Dei EDGE Shaun Scott talks Texas offer, visit

2026 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei EDGE Shaun Scott made his way to Austin on Tuesday and was rewarded with an offer by Steve Sarkisian and Pete Kwiatkowski.

“This is my first time in Texas,” Scott told Inside Texas. “It was big, and the coaching staff was real genuine. I mean, Texas is a great school.” 

Texas’ message was clear to the rising sophomore from the West Coast.

“(Texas) message to me was that they loved the way I play and what I brought to the table as a freshman,” Scott said. “They loved how I was playing the run and dropping in coverage, showing my versatility.”

What about his position at the next level? Is he an EDGE or regular linebacker?

“They were saying for my position, they will see how my body develops,” Scott said. “The EDGE coaches went over film with me and showed me around. I talked to the defensive coordinator, Pete Kwiatkowski, and he loved how I played and felt I could be an impact player a few years down the road. He’s somebody I will definitely look forward to building a great relationship with. “

Scott was joined by Mater Dei teammates Jordon Davison, Marcus Harris, Daryus Dixon, and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder holds offers from USC, Arizona, Penn State, Cal, Michigan State, Louisville, Colorado, UNLV, Washington State, Tennessee, and Kansas.

Scott took an unofficial to USC this spring and is looking at another trip this summer, as he’s building a strong bond with USC DL coach Shaun Nua and DB coach Donte Williams.
