Rusty’s Ramblings: 5-star notes, latest on upcoming decisions for this week

Rusty’s Ramblings: 5-star notes, latest on upcoming decisions for this week

As we’ve noted a few times, next weekend is the final big recruiting opportunity for programs across the country before preseason camp begins. Georgia is expected to have a good group in town and DawgsHQ has some intel to share.

Looks like most schools are calling next weekend a “cook out” for the final weekend of recruiting this summer. According to a number of recruits, Georgia is calling it the same thing.

Not sure what school DeMarcus Riddick will pick on the July 26, but I am confident, again, that it will not be Georgia. That is nothing new to you guys. We’ve said it here for months.

We are a few days away from the decision of five-star linebacker Justin Williams of Conroe, Texas. That one is set for Monday night. It goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway, that he’s a huge target for Georgia in the 2024 class. I still think Georgia is the team to beat going into the last 48 hours. Oregon is the only other team you could consider a finalist at this point.

I still think there is a good chance that Georgia will land three linebacker prospects counting Williams. Chris Cole and Kris Jones have decisions to make and UGA is in a good spot with both guys.

I’m still working on more names for next weekend’s visitor list but, to no one’s surprise, Dylan Raiola will be town to help Georgia recruit other prospects.

It looks like another five-star is expected in town for that weekend — 2025 DB Na’eem Offord from Birmingham, Alabama. He has been to the Georgia campus a few times in the 2023 year.

I will have more names and a running list starting on Monday.
