What’s next at WR recruiting for USC?

Five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews has committed to Tennessee over USC, Georgia, and Clemson.
This decision was an expected one as the decision got closer. Looking forward now, where does USC go at the wide receiver position? With two top-100 prospects at the position committed in the 2024 class, how important is it add more and who could some targets be?
Let’s break it down.
Currently, USC holds commitments from Los Angeles (Cal.) Sierra Canyon four-star Xavier Jordan and Long Beach (Calif.) Millikan four-star wide receiver Ryan Pellum. Both of these prospects are ranked inside the top-100, Jordan checking in at No. 79 and Pellum at No. 83.
This comes one cycle after USC brought in five-star Zachariah Branch, the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2023 class, elite four-star Makai Lemon, four-star Ja’Kobi Lane, and highly touted four-star transfer Dorian Singer.
The Trojans also brought in the nation’s No. 1 tight end Duce Robinson, who will be playing tight end to start his career for USC.
This means if USC does not add any more names to the 2024 class, they would finish a two class haul of six additions, two of which are five-stars, and three others as top-100 prospects.
So, Lincoln Riley and Luke Huard absolutely have the ability to move their focus of wide receivers to the upcoming classes and feel great with what they have in the bag. But, it is still likely they will keep monitoring certain players to see if there are any chances for another big time playmaker.
Who might be the options for USC?
As it stands right now, USC has reportedly offered 19 wide receivers in the 2024 class. 17 of those prospects are now committed. The two lone names left are five-star Ryan Wingo and three-star Terrence Kiel, neither of which have been connected with USC this summer.
This leads me to believe if USC does pursue an addition to this class from the high school ranks, it will come from an offer not yet extended. Or the staff will push for a commitment flip this fall. The possibility of a transfer portal addition following the season will always remain open.
As far as a timeline of new offers, I would not expect any new offers to be dished out at wide receiver for at least six weeks, but likely closer to 8-10 weeks.
There are certainly some names on the radar for USC and others who staffs are waiting to see some more film on. There will also be some late risers around the country who emerge with some impressive film that has not been seen yet. As prospects get 3-4 games into their senior seasons, this is a realistic timeline of when some “late” offers will be dished out.
