WATCH: John Calipari’s Gold Medal Press Conference
After the gold medals were awarded to the Kentucky Wildcats, the head coach of the gold medalists, John Calipari, spent some time answering questions before the flight home. In his last press conference for a while, Calipari reviewed his team’s performance against Canada and throughout the entire four-game event in Toronto.
He also raved about Kentucky’s return to his old brand of basketball, the dribble-drive offense, and about his new team of playmakers. There’s a conundrum with what to do with so much talent, but Calipari is excited to experiment with the lineups once he has his full complement of players back.
On that note, Ugonna Onyenso is “going to be out awhile,” Calipari noted in his postgame comments.
“We had some other guys who may be a little bit better than we even thought,” he added. “And they got in these games and they competed and did some good stuff.”
