Recruit of the Week: Kansas State commit Ryan Howard

RECRUITING SUMMARY
Kansas State offered the younger brother of Will Howard at a camp last June. After that day, K-State held a commanding lead for the entirety of his recruitment. They never had to look back before landing the big man from Pennsylvania.
Howard visited again last season for the Sunflower Showdown and again after the Wildcats won a Big 12 Championship. His visit took place on January 28, but Howard committed to Kansas State as soon as he arrived in Manhattan on January 27.
The three-star lineman also made trips to K-State for a spring football practice and his official visit a couple months later. The official visit lined up with fellow offensive lineman Kaedin Massey. The two bonded during that trip and Massey eventually also committed to Kansas State.
EVALUATION
It is obvious, but the first thing that stands out about the rising senior is his size. He is every bit of 6-foot-7 and 315 pounds. It is not necessarily bad weight, but it would not be shocking to see him trim a little off in his first few weeks on campus before adding more strength.
Like all offensive linemen added and coached by K-State assistant Conor Riley, Howard is physical and nasty at the point of attack. He is looking to knock you over. He is heavy hands and prefers to be a bully and overpowering in the trenches.
Howard is a bit more of a mauler and does not hold the same foot speed as fellow Kansas State commits Gus Hawkins and Massey. Because of that, I think he might be better suited as a bigger guard instead of sticking at tackle.
PREDICTION
Howard was the third commitment of the 2024 cycle for the Wildcats. He is also planning to enroll early at Kansas State and will be in Manhattan in January.
