Rusty’s Ramblings- Saturday morning quick hitters

DawgsHQ is keeping the pedal to the metal when it comes to recruiting info, even if the commitments have slowed down for Georgia. Get the latest on what we’re hearing below.

I have gotten a few questions on Mike Matthews lately. I think Georgia used the summer months to make this interesting. It got a lot more interesting than I would have thought as we exited spring. But I have also thought for awhile that Tennessee is the team to beat. Right now, that’s still the way I look at it. I expect him to end up in Knoxville.

Earlier this week I did an update on the inside linebacker position. After some checking, I do think UGA would take three at that position. If Justin Williams, Chris Cole, and Kris Jones all wanted to join this class, Georgia would take all three. Right now I would probably lean toward the Bulldogs getting all three. It’s one that I will continue to follow this in the next two to three weeks.

I know that you’ve seen how other schools like Auburn, Clemson, Tennessee, etc. are having big recruiting events that last week in July. You can bet that Georgia is also going to put a lot of effort into that weekend. There will be visitors and we’ll have a list up for you next week.

We are a couple of days away from SEC Media Days and, to me, that’s the start of the season.

I am working on the TV schedule for the fall. We start the season with Cass vs Rome, so Sacovie White will be on that Friday night August 18th at 8:30 pm. I also have Buford on the schedule twice and those games will be announced shortly. I have secured a game with JuJu Lewis early in the season so you guys will be able to see some major Georgia targets and commits play on Friday nights this fall.
