Miami among final group for 4-star DL T.J. Lindsey: “They make me feel like a priority”

Miami among final group for 4-star DL T.J. Lindsey: “They make me feel like a priority”

With his June official visits in the rearview mirror, IMG Academy four-star defensive lineman TJ Lindsey has turned his focus on finding his home and has a group of schools he is heavily considering, which includes the Miami Hurricanes.

“Everything is good, and I’m talking to about six schools seriously right now,” Lindsey told CaneSport. “What stands out about Miami is Jason Taylor and coach Mario Cristobal. Also, just the opportunity at Miami to do everything.”

Along with Miami, Lindsey names Texas, Auburn, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Arkansas as the groups of programs he plans to focus on down the final stretch of his recruitment. Out of those six programs, the 6-foot-3, 270-pounder took official visits to Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M, and Miami.

Since his June 9 official visit with the Hurricanes, Lindsey has maintained steady contact with the program.

“The communication has definitely been good,” Lindsey said. “I talk to coach Cristobal and coach Taylor all the time. I would say I talk to them every week or a couple times a week.”

Miami’s message?

“They tell me how they think I can come down there, help change the culture, and be one of the leaders on the defense,” Lindsey said. just the impact they believe I can have almost immediately. “They make me feel like a priority, for sure.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Texas A&M is the current favorite to land Lindsey’s commitment, leading all schools with a 78.1%. With his commitment looming, Lindsey will be focusing on whether he can truly see himself thrive at one of his six top programs.

“Just the fit,” Lindsey said. “The fit on the field and the fit off the field Just how I feel being at the school—the opportunity and development.”

Despite the Aggies sitting at the top of Lindsey’s RPM, he adds that there is no single school at the top of his list but instead, the six programs he has been in heavy communication with as of late.

“All the schools I named are at the top, I would say,” Lindsey said. “At this point, I think I’m just looking for that feeling.”

CaneSport’s take

Lindsey, who is the No. 324 overall player in the country, the No. 30 defensive lineman in the country, and the No. 45 player in the state of Florida according to the On3 Industry Ranking, seems to be in no immediate rush to announce his pledge quite yet. With Miami hoping to land the Arkansas native, it won’t be an easy task as they battle it out against several SEC programs.
