Jhop’s Ultimate 25: Version 4.0

Jhop’s Ultimate 25: Version 4.0

Welcome back to the fourth edition of the Ultimate 25. The Ducks have hit a heater since the debut of the Ultimate 25 at the end of March. They now have 20 verbal commits in the 2024 class.

With the run of commitments to Oregon and other places, it’s given me the chance to update this list and add/remove names. This time we have a few changes with some of that same movement.

If any of you aren’t sure what this list is about, I will add the details below once again. If you are already a Jhop’s Ultimate 25 veteran, skip over it and head to the list.

For those that don’t know, the original ScoopDuck, AKA ScoopDuck OG, had a tab that kept the top 25 names on a list. I called it Jhop’s Ultimate 25, which I felt was a fitting name.

The list was 25 recruits in that current recruiting class that I felt are the top names to watch. Not a next to commit. Not a list of predictions. It is really a list I blend together with the names I feel Oregon has prioritized early on and has a LEGITIMATE shot at signing. Which means I don’t just go down the rankings and list the top 3 guys at each position group.

Additionally, if a recruit commits to Oregon, they come off the list. And often times, the list has a pretty high success rate. Also if a recruit commits elsewhere and shuts down their recruitment, they will likely be pulled off the list, but not always.

What I typically try and do is get at least a name or two in each position but it comes together based on need. For instance, Oregon has two QB commits in this class so I won’t be listing any names.

Make sense?

I will be using On3 Industry rankings, just for reference.

Subtractions from version 3.0: Ryan Pellum, Ryner Swanson, Jac’Qawn McRoy, Devin Brooks, Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, Dylan Williams, Kamar Mothudi, Zabien Brown, Dakoda Fields, Chris Johnson, Marquis Gallegos, Miles Lockhart

Quarterback:

Current Commits: Luke MogaMichael Van Buren

Analysis: Oregon is done at QB recruiting in the 2024 class. Perhaps they’ll entertain the transfer portal down the line, but nothing until after this season concludes if they do at all.

Running Back:

Current Commits: Da’Jaun Riggs

4-Star Jason Brown

4-star Nathaniel Frazier

Analysis: This list has had the same two names on all three lists now. This will be the first time we have updated this list with Riggs committed. As we know Oregon could sign a second running back and I still believe it could be Brown or Frazier. But they could also sign neither and be just fine too.

Wide Receiver:

Current Commits: Jordan AndersonDillon Gresham, Jack Ressler

4-Star Jeremiah McClellan

4-Star Gatlin Bair

Analysis: Some changes here. Denmark is off the list and Ressler is added in this update. While Gatlin Bair has been a top target for a long-time, we finally have room to really add him to the list for the first time. I’ve hesitated mostly due to the fact he’s going to ultimately be a 2026 after his mission, but we have room now.

Tight End:

Current Commits: AJ PuglianoJackson Ford

4-Star Roger Saleapaga

U/R Kade Caton

Analysis: Not a ton to add here really. Swanson comes off the board following his commitment to BYU. Oregon made a recent offer to Caton but with room getting tight we’ll see how that one plays out. Oregon has kept the door open to taking a third tight end in this class.

Offensive Line:

Current Commits: Fox CraderTrent Ferguson, Jac’Qawn Mcroy, Devin Brooks

4-Star Brandon Baker

4-Star Preston Taumua

4-Star Isaiah Garcia

4-Star Eddy Pierre-Louis

4-Star Isendre Ahfua

Analysis: Well some big changes here. Oregon adds McRoy and Brooks from targets to commit list. And even though Taumua decides soon and is trending Nebraska and Garcia is trending Stanford, I’m going to leave them. Simply because I have the room to do so in this update.

I went deep with Ahfua just based on the fact Oregon might miss out on Taumau and Garcia and additionally he is my 25th name on this list.

Defensive Line:

Current Commits: Jaxson JonesTionne GrayXadavien Sims

5-Star David Stone

4-Star Elijah Rushing

5-Star Williams Nwaneri

5-Star Aydin Breland

4-Star Jericho Johnson

4-Star Zina Omeozulu

4-Star Jordan Ross

3-Star Solomon Williams

U/R Tyler Simmons

Analysis: The big movement here is removing Jonah-Ajonye and adding Solomon Williams. As you can see in a rare instance, I left Elijah Rushing on this list despite his commitment to Arizona. Call it a feel, call it what you want, I had room so I left him. I added Ross, Williams, Omeozulu and Simmons as well. I added David Stone as well even though it is a bit of a long shot. It’s clear Oregon has some work to do at this position group.

Linebacker:

Current Commits: Dylan Williams, Kamar Mothudi

5-Star Justin Williams

4-Star Brayden Platt

Analysis: We move Dylan Williams and Mothudi from the target list to the commit list. Which has narrowed down the options at the position.

Defensive Back:

Current Commits: Ify Obidwegu, Aaron Flowers, Kingston Lopa

JUCO Sione Laulea

4-Star Aaron Scott

5-Star Peyton Woodyard

Analysis: I know Scott is trending towards Ohio State but I’ve got the room. Again we’re at a spot where the Ducks might have room for roughly a half-dozen more to add to this commit list. I feel like this is a really strong list with Woodyard kind of secretly having the potential to be one of those ‘late surprises’ Dan Lanning likes to deliver.
