Brett Yormark announces Big 12 football championship will remain at AT&T Stadium through 2030

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark announced the conference reached a new deal with AT&T Stadium to host the conference championship game through 2030.

Originally, the Big 12 announced an extension with the stadium that hosts the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys last year. That deal was through 2025.

But now, the Big 12 has its home into the next decade.

“I am pleased to announce again the extension of our contract with AT&T Stadium to continue as our football championship host site through the 2030 game and I must thank the Jones family as well as the Dallas Cowboys organization for their commitment to the Big 12,” Yormark said at Big 12 media day.

“Tickets for this year’s game will go on sale Saturday, August 12. For the first time, we will be introducing a halftime show featuring a major artist and our school bands that will be part of the ABC game telecast.”

There will also be history made on the air at the next conference title game.

“The artists will be announced in conjunction with the August 12 ticket on sale date,” Yormark said. “We will also be introducing our first Hispanic radio broadcast of the Big 12 championship game.”

The return of the conference championship was much needed for the Big 12 amid the College Football Playoff. Wth conference titles weighing heavily in playoff resumes, the Big 12 brought it back in 2017.

Previously, the Big 12 had no conference title game after the 2010 addition, when it was played in the old Cowboys’ stadium. It rotated around the midwest before returning in 2017 after no conference championship games.

When it returned, AT&T Stadium hosted the game up to the present day. Now, it’s here to stay for the foreseeable future.
