Elite 2025 QB Cutter Boley enjoys another trip to Rocky Top

Lexington Christian Academy (Ky.) elite quarterback Cutter Boley was back on campus at Tennessee on Tuesday to take in the Vols’ second practice of the spring. Following the visit, he broke down the experience with Volquest.

“It was really cool to see it all,” Boley said of the practice visit. “The thing that stood out to me the most was that Coach Halze is so connected with his quarterbacks. Sitting in the QB meeting and watching practice and seeing how he coaches, I like how he coaches the quarterbacks.”

Just watching how Halzle coached his players throughout the session was a key point for Boley during the visit.

He is not going to scream at you for being wrong and not explain it to you,” Boley added on what stood out the most about how Halzle coached the quarterbacks. “He isn’t an overly yelling guy. He will tell you when you mess up, but as a quarterback, you know when you mess up. He is going to explain it you and what to do better and what not to do. That is what I liked about that.”

As Boley watched practice and broke down the concepts Tennessee utilizes on offense, he was impressed with how the schemes work alongside the tempo.

“All of their concepts, in general, stood out to me,” Boley said of this. “Everybody wants to keep saying how unrelatable it is to the NFL, but everything they do is NFL scheme; they just go a little faster than everyone else. They do some different things, but everything they have is translatable to the league. I don’t really listen to all of that talk because I am trying to play the best football I can, but that was really what stood out to me was all of their concepts.”

Boley had the chance to spend time with Josh Heupel and Joey Halzle outside of the practice setting as well.

It was really cool,” Boley said of the conversation with the Tennessee staff following practice. “They were just telling me how much they like me as a player and a person. They were talking to me about how great of a fit it would be for me, and they were just showing a lot of love toward me. Tennessee was one of the first schools I started talking to, so for them to be in my recruitment for this long really means a lot to me.”

Boley has more visits coming up over the spring, as he plans to be at Notre Dame on Saturday and Michigan on Sunday. He plans to return to Tennessee over the summer for a camp.

Boley is currently rated as the 21st overall prospect, second-best quarterback, and top player from the state of Kentucky in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
