Next Five to Commit to Oregon

The Ducks have had a successful July on the recruiting trail. Perhaps not as many fireworks as some had hoped for but still adding some very key pieces to the recruiting class.
Moments ago the Ducks secured a commitment from another key piece to the class. Linebacker Kamar Mothudi from Los Alamitos is the latest to commit to the Ducks. Which makes for an interesting remainder of July for Oregon.
For the most part, Oregon will be ‘big game hunting’ so to speak moving forward. Which means the predictions will get a little bit harder and fewer. There just isn’t a ton of room left and Oregon is going to be primarily focused on some big names moving forward.
My best guess at the next five to commit is below. Both based on interest in Oregon and interest in making decisions prior to the start of Senior seasons. And right now both of those things are hard to predict. But here goes nonetheless.
Cornerback Sione Laulea
I do have a prediction in favor of Oregon currently. But not with a ton of confidence currently. As I posted on Sunday, the latest suggests Oregon and Penn State are battling here. And even though distance is in Oregon’s favor, Penn State has done a great job recruiting him as well. While I’m not super confident in the prediction itself just yet, I feel fairly confident a decision likely comes before September.
Wide Receiver Jeremiah McClellan
Definitely a shot in the dark here a little bit. But if Oregon is looking to make a splash, stealing a wide receiver from Ohio State would certainly be a splash. This one won’t be easy and I don’t have a prediction in place for McClellan currently. He’s expected to visit Oregon again at the end of July and that will be another big chance for the Ducks to land the highly-coveted four-star.
Defensive Lineman Aydin Breland
A little bit of a shot in the dark on both accounts. Breland has hinted at making a decision prior to his senior season, but hasn’t confirmed anything yet. This one seems to be Oregon vs Georgia at the moment with the Ducks probably holding the slight edge. Should Oregon land Breland it would be a very, very big piece to this recruiting class for Dan Lanning. I currently do not have a pick in for Breland.
Offensive Lineman Brandon Baker
Sticking with the Mater Dei theme. Baker has been all over the map in the last two months. Similar to Dylan Raiola’s recruitment with a number of schools being viewed as the leader. At one point this seemed like an Oregon-Georgia battle. Now it’s looking more like Oregon-Texas at the moment. With Ohio State in that mix too. Baker has not indicated he will make a Summer decision but I could see him committed somewhere by October at the latest. I still have my pick on Oregon for now.
Linebacker Brayden Platt
As expected Platt has named Oregon and Oklahoma as finalists. Which have been long viewed as the two teams left in his recruitment. He will commit on September 4 which means he’s likely to be one of the next five to commit. The key will be if its to Oregon or not. I have my pick on Oregon currently but with low confidence and do acknowledge Oklahoma is a serious threat in his recruitment.
