Texas Longhorns Sunday Recruiting Intel

Inside Texas takes a closer look at a pair of 2024 targets Jayden Jackson and Joshua Lair, and the early BBQ recruiting visitor list in Sunday’s intel.
Jayden Jackson, DL, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
Texas did a tremendous job with the 6-foot-1, 295-pound On3 three-star and his family during their official visit to Austin in June. But there’s a sense the Horns might be running second in the race with four days until he announces his decision on July 13th.
Jackson made official visits to Florida on June 2-4, Ohio State on June 9-11, Miami on June 16-18 and Oklahoma on June 21-22 prior to his UT trip on June 23-25.
Two of Jackson’s teammates at IMG Academy are committed to Texas, with four-star’s Jerrick Gibson and Jordon Johnson-Rubell committed to Steve Sarkisian and staff over the last week or so. He’s close to Texas defensive lineman coach Bo Davis as well, but sources close to Jackson indicate NIL will be a factor in this recruitment.
Ohio State leads in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine at 80.2%, followed by Miami, Florida, and Texas.
Joshua Lair, S, Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall
The 6-foot-0.5, 185-pound thumper in the secondary took an official visit to Texas in mid-June and he’d like to return. The On3 three-star safety took official trip to UT and LSU, and has a visit to Texas A&M scheduled for later this month. He’s also considering a couple official trips this fall.
But his goal is to make a decision in August, before his senior season begins.
With Converse (Texas) Judson safety Myles Davis trending to Texas A&M, it could keep Lair squarely on the Texas radar.
In 2022, he had a breakout season tallying 54 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, and one pick-six.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he ranks as the No. 442 overall prospect in the country and No. 39 safety in the nation.
Zion Williams, DL, Lufkin (Texas) – 2025
Texas is still connecting with the 6-foot-4, 300-pound On3 Industry Ranking four-star interior defender. He remains in contact with Bo Davis and the UT staff, thoroughly enjoyed his unofficial trip to Texas recently, and is looking at attending a game this fall in Austin.
He’ll be attending the Texas A&M Pool party in late July, he tells Inside Texas. The Aggies have been pushing hard of late. TCU just offered and wants him on campus, while Texas Tech remains persistent.
Williams appeared on many d-line target lists this Spring and will be one of the more coveted defensive linemen in the country for 2025.
