5-star WR Ryan Williams talks Alabama: “I’m really just locked in with the Tide.”

5-star WR Ryan Williams talks Alabama: “I’m really just locked in with the Tide.”

After Ryan Williams committed to Alabama on Oct. 8, 2022, On3 rankings expert Charles Power said Williams is “one definitely worth getting excited about, even as a sophomore.”

That statement remains true to this day, with Williams displaying at Saturday’s Under Armour Future 50 showcase why he’s one of the best overall players in the country. Before lacing up his cleats for this weekend’s event, Williams spoke with reporters about his recruitment and where things stand with Bama.

“I’m really just locked in with the Tide,” Williams told BamaOnLine and others. “Enjoying the recruiting process. Making it fun. Making sure I enjoy it because it could be stressful at times. It can be stressful at times, but it’s best to enjoy the recruiting process because you only get it once.”

Williams also delivered an epic quote to On3’s Chad Simmons regarding his role as a leader in Bama’s 2025 class.

“For the 2025 players, I am the recruiter,” Williams told Simmons in their conversation. “That’s my job. As far as the 2024 class, I just help. I help guys with people’s decisions. But for the 2025 class, I’m like the enforcer. I’m going to pick at you any time you post a photo of you going on a visit. I’m posting, I’m sending you the elephant. I am the enforcer, I’m going to let you know where you need to be.”

As for why he’s still solid with the Tide after all these months, it comes down to the bonds he’s built with the coaches.

“As I’ve stated before, it’s the constant relationship,” Williams said in his conversation with BOL. “It’s not a stagnant relationship. It continues to grow. I feel confident and comfortable with the staff. I love the Tide.

“They’re still recruiting me like they’re trying to get me,” Williams continued. “They’re working hard.”

The No. 3 overall prospect on the 2025 On300 also said he is not concerned about Nick Saban retiring anytime soon.

“We’ve talked about that, of course,” Williams said of Saban. “He said he’s going to be coaching until he croaks over [laughing]. He’s got some time.”

Williams will be recruiting some big names at Future 50

Under Armour Future 50 is a multi-day event held at IMG Academy that features some of the nation’s most coveted 2025 prospects.

As such, Williams has a few Alabama targets at the top of his mind during his time in Bradenton (Fla.).

“Of course, K.J. [Lacey] and Micah [DeBose]. We’re all from the same city, so of course those guys,” Williams said. “We’re trying to get Anquon [Fegans] to flip from USC. More than likely, I’m going to tell them, ‘Do you want to win? Do you want to get some rings?’ We’re going to bring in big recruiting classes for the next few years. It’s pretty set in stone. So, if they want to join it, they can join it.”

Lacey’s name stands out from the rest, for an obvious reason. The Texas quarterback commit plays at Saraland High School with Williams, and the two have an established chemistry that’s hard to replicate.

Both are recruiting each other to the schools they’re committed to.

“He definitely wants me to go to Texas. I’m going to visit just to see what they have to offer,” Williams said. “But I definitely think he’s going to be saying Roll Tide in the future… I’m a very good recruiter. I could be a lawyer if I wanted to.”

Although Lacey is a target for him, Williams is excited about who Alabama is bringing in in five-star signal caller Julian Sayin.

“I was really proud of him. I had full confidence in him going into it, but it was nice to see him work,” Williams said of Sayin winning Elite 11 Finals MVP. “You always want somebody to get you the ball… without that, you can’t do much as a receiver. It definitely brings confidence to the table because I know I have someone who can get me the ball.”

Other schools in the mix for Alabama commit Ryan Williams

Ryan Williams is considered a solid Alabama commit, but wants to enjoy his process.

He intends on making his way out to Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Miami sometime after the dead period ends on July 24. Those will either be for late July visits or for some game day trips during the season.

LSU also received a visit from the nation’s No. 1 Class of 2025 wideout earlier this month.

Alabama fans, also be sure to join the discussion about Ryan Williams on the The BOL Round Table. There’s always a lot of great team, recruiting, and off-topic conversations going on. So, we look forward to talking with you all there.
