5-star WR Ryan Williams on Raiola: ‘Wouldn’t mind catching passes from him’

5-star WR Ryan Williams on Raiola: ‘Wouldn’t mind catching passes from him’

The top receiver in the Class of 2025, Ryan Williams is already committed to Alabama, but that hasn’t stopped him from showing his face in Athens this spring, including for a visit this weekend.

What keeps bringing him back to Georgia?

“Definitely their past winning tradition. I wanted to see that for myself,” he told DawgsHQ’s Jake Rowe. “Also, Dylan (Raiola), he’s a big commit. He can throw the rock.”

Raiola’s presence, as you might imagine, has the eyes of several top receivers across the country, and Williams was able to work with the nation’s No. 1 quarterback in 2024 on Saturday morning.

It wasn’t the first time the two have connected, however.

“We’ve been talking since the last time I came to Georgia,” Williams said. “We have a pretty good relationship, and I wouldn’t mind catching passes from him.”

Georgia’s staff has also made a point of connecting with the No. 4 prospect in the 2025 cycle, as well, and they’re not alone in their efforts.

“(I’ve talked with) Coach BMac [Bryan McClendon], Coach [Scott] Cochran, really Coach Kirby [Smart]. All the coaches really,” Williams said. “The other (Georgia) commits, too, like Ny [Carr]. A lot of the guys.”

And while coaches may hold their own appeal, it’s the possibility of what the Dawgs are putting together on the roster that has Williams’ attention the most.

“Definitely (looking at) the other commits. They have a pretty big receiver room they’re building,” he said of Georgia’s appeal. “You always need a quarterback to throw you the ball, so that definitely added to it. Also, like I said the winning tradition and the culture of going at it every day.”

While the Tide may hold his pledge, Williams says he’s not crossing off any possibilities moving forward.

“Not yet (I’m not shut down),” he said. “I’m really just seeing it through and feeling out all my different options.”

Ryan Williams hails from Saraland, Alabama.

On3 Scouting Report on Ryan Williams

“The most productive and athletic wide receiver in high school football as a sophomore. Turned in an utterly dominant season in 2022. Measured around 6-foot, 160 pounds in the spring following his sophomore season. One of the fastest wideouts in the nation, regardless of class. Posted a scintillating 10.49 second 100-meter time early on in his sophomore track season. A legitimate state title contender in four track events – the 100, 200, 400 meters and high jump. Shows the ability to harness his elite speed on the football field. A big-time deep threat who easily runs past defensive backs. Has high-end change of direction and breaks off cornerbacks with agility within his routes. Caught 88 passes for 1,641 yards and 24 touchdowns, ran for 700 yards and 15 touchdowns on 57 rushes (12.3 yards per carry), returned two punts for touchdowns and passed for a score while leading his high school to a state title as a sophomore. Was named Alabama’s Gatorade Player of the Year following the historic season. Was the On3 MVP at Under Armour’s Atlanta camp prior to his junior season. Looks like one of the top pass-catchers in high school football regardless of class and is the top wide receiver prospect from Alabama since Henry Ruggs III. Will need to continue adding strength and mass to his slender frame.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
