5-star WR Joshisa Trader waiting to take official visits

The last few weeks have seen nearly all of the nation’s top recruits travel all over the country for official and unofficial visits. Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep four-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader was not one of those prospects traveling.

Trader will not take an official visits during June as he his mother recovers from some health-related issues.

“RIght now I feel like I’m still a ways away right now,” Trader told On3. It’s not because of any schools or anything but I had to pause for my mom. Recruiting wise, I’m not taking any in June. My mom won’t be able to make any this month.

“I wanted to do it all in June but stuff happens. That’s life.”

While June won’t see Trader making any trips, he says he will take official during the fall when he and his mother can travel together to the schools.

Visits may be on hold currently but Trader noted his recruitment is not.

While he hasn’t locked any official dates in yet, Trader noted Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Ohio State as a few schools of interest at this point. He also said Florida is another school he’s had contact with.

Trader was recently at Florida State for a day as some of his teammates went to Tallahassee for visits. When it comes to his interest in the Seminoles, Trader said it starts up top with head coach Mike Norvell.

“He’s been a great coach and my first time visiting there he told me they were going to bring a consistent program back,” said Trader, the No. 31 player in the 2024 class. “The following year they won a bowl game and now they’re looking ahead at a championship.”

Despite the interest in Florida State, it’s Trader’s hometown team that holds a major advantage in his recruitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

While that lead may look substantial, Trader says it’s not as accurate as everyone make it out to be. He does have high interest in the Hurricanes.

“Miami is up there,” Trader said. “There’s always love from them and that’s my home. They’re just showing love. Building a relationship with me and my mom. My mom likes them too.”

When it comes to the out-of-state schools, Trader holds both Georgia and Ohio State as high up as he does any in-state program recruiting him.

While his teammate Jeremiah Smith is pledged to the Buckeyes, Trader didn’t follow suit. He has talked to Buckeyes receivers coach Brian Hartline and said Hartline has told him they have a spot for him if he wants to join Smith.

Trader hasn’t had as much contact with Georgia but said he talked to them recently. He plans to reach back out again soon.

“Looking at my top five, everyone says I may stay down, the odds are that I stay down in Florida,” Trader said.
