5-star WR Dallas Wilson won’t shut down recruitment any time soon

Five-star prospect Dallas Wilson of Tampa Bay Tech (Fla.) is impressed by the Florida Gators’ development of one former receiver and is a fan of another one currently on the team.

“Ricky (Pearsall) is a great receiver, and he just went to the league,” Wilson said. “When I say that, I see they’re putting receivers in the league. Then you got Eugene Wilson. Trey is my boy. It’s always good catching up with him, and talking to him about Florida. He just tells me to stay focused and keep doing what you’re doing. … he doesn’t ever lead you in a direction.”

Wilson, an Oregon commit, is a major Florida target and he will officially visit the Gators next weekend. He’s the No. 5 receiver and No. 26 overall recruit nationally in the On3 Industry Rankings. Oregon (June 21), Florida State (fall) and Miami also will get officials.

“I only talk to the schools I have OVs with,” Wilson said. “I don’t talk to anybody else.”

“Probably Miami,” Wilson said. “But Florida is a close one behind. FSU is defintiely close. I really don’t talk to the head man (at FSU) but I talk to Coach (Ron) Dugans a lot and we chop it up.”

With Florida, Wilson communicates often with multiple coaches, including receivers coach Billy Gonzales, receivers assistant David Doeker and analyst Chad Lucas.

“I talk to all three of them all the time,” Wilson said. “It’s always good talking to them. They never harass you or nothing. It’s not always about ball either.”

According to Wilson, he’s also high on Gators head coach Billy Napier. Napier has a background coaching receivers.

“Coach Napier is a great coach actually,” Wilson said. “When you get to meet him in person you can really tell how he is and how he feels about the players and I like that about him.”

Wilson doesn’t intend to close the door on other schools anytime soon. He’s interested to see how they look this upcoming season.

“It’s pretty important because I want to see how they develop their receivers, use them in the game,” Wilson said. “And how the coaches coach the players.”
