5-star WR Cam Coleman locks in official visit to Auburn

Five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, arguably Auburn football‘s top overall target in the 2024 class, has locked in an official visit to the Plains.

Coleman, who is from Central-Phenix City (Ala.), will be back in Auburn for an official visit June 12-14, he told On3’s Chad Simmons.

Coleman last visited Auburn in May. He and three teammates, including safety Red Morgan, visited Auburn on May 18. Coleman and Morgan both said at the time that they’d return in mid-June for official visits. Now, both have locked in the same dates (June 12-14).

Auburn in good spot for Coleman

Auburn currently leads for both Coleman and Morgan, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). The Tigers are the favorite for Coleman at 80.4% and 35.8% for Morgan.

The Tigers have made the two teammates high priorities. The same can be said about all of the recruits at nearby Central High School.

“Definitely,” he said in May. “As you see, we’re all coming up here at the same time. We’re really building brotherhoods with our position coaches. Ever since the new coaching staff … before with Coach Bryan Harsin, I was talking to the position coach, but not as real as I’m talking with Coach (Marcus) Davis now.”

Davis is playing a big role in Coleman’s recruitment.

“(The visit in May) was just getting back up here and building bonding time, building that brotherhood with Coach Marcus Davis and some of my teammates,” Coleman said. “We went to eat, toured the facilities and really just chilled.

“Coach Davis is my dog. Ever since the first day he was hired, we have been building that relationship from Day One.”

Signing Day decision

Coleman has been hearing from Walker White, Auburn’s four-star quarterback commitment.

“Oh yeah,” he said. “Walker texts me almost every day. He just asks how my day was. It’s real important. It shows that he wants me to play with him at the next level.”

As for a commitment timeline, Coleman likely will wait until the December signing period.

“I’m probably going to wait until Signing Day,” he said.

Coleman is ranked the No. 25 overall recruit in the 2024 class, the No. 7 wide receiver and No. 2 recruit in Alabama, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, an industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3, however, is much higher on him. The network ranks him No. 6 overall, the No. 2 wide receiver in the country and No. 1 recruit in Alabama.
