5-star WR Caleb Cunningham visits Auburn: ‘They stand No. 1’

Five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham took an official visit to Auburn this weekend.

Cunningham, who attends Choctaw County in Ackerman, Miss., arrived in Auburn on Friday and stayed until Sunday. It was Cunningham’s third visit to Auburn this year and fifth total.

“It was amazing,” he said. “It was great being here. I keep building relationships, plus spending time with Cam Coleman, Perry Thompson, Malcolm Simmons, Bryce Cain. It was great being around those guys and the coaches.

“Those are some great guys. I want to be around great guys. They’re just a vibe. We’re real similar. We’re funny. We’re not bad people. I could see myself around those guys.”

Cunningham has strong bond with 3 Auburn coaches

Cunningham met extensively with wide receivers coach Marcus Davis, offensive coordinator Derrick Nix and head coach Hugh Freeze.

“Coach Nix has been recruiting me since I was in ninth grade,” he said. “We got a great relationship. He always smiles when he sees me. And Coach Davis, we always vibing and always on FaceTime. I have great connections with those guys.”

Following the visit, Cunningham said Auburn is at the top of his list. He informed the coaches of his news on Saturday.

“I told them yesterday they stand No. 1,” he said. “Just the culture and how they treat me like family. It’s great people and I want to be around great people. It’s just a vibe here. It’s just great being here. I told them I don’t want to leave.”

Did he considering committing?

“It was close, but I’m going to be patient,” he said. “I’m going to take a couple more visits. I was going to do it in December, but it could change, though.

“Auburn is a great place with great people. It’s just family. It feels like family. They always treat me good. I know I’m their main priority and they made me feel that way.”

Cunningham is listed at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds. The On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, ranks him the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2025 class. He also is ranked the No. 15 overall recruit in the country and No. 1 in Mississippi.
