5-star Texas A&M commit Cam Coleman talks eye-opening visit to Colorado

Numerous schools are working to flip five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman from Texas A&M and Colorado is one of them. The Buffaloes came in with an offer back during basketball season and have remained in contact with the playmaker from Phenix City (Ala.) Central since.

Deion Sanders and his staff worked hard to get Coleman to Boulder and the No. 12 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings finally got out there last weekend for the USC game. He wasn’t disappointed.

“I didn’t really know what to expect out there,” Coleman said. “I am from the south, so all the open land, the mountains and the scenery were cool and unique. It is a beautiful place and I love how the stadium is up there in the mountains.

“Then you had all of the celebrities out there. I took a picture with DaBay, Terrell Owens and Kevin Garnett. I couldn’t believe I was that close to those guys. With people like that there, the game, the crowd and the atmosphere, it was a cool experience. It opened my eyes.”

First visit to Boulder puts Colorado on Coleman’s mind

Coleman arrived Friday evening and left Sunday morning. He spent all of Saturday on campus and he is now considering an official visit back to Boulder.

“I am thinking more about them for sure. I am still locked in with Texas A&M, but Colorado made a move with me. Nothing is set up, but I am looking forward to getting back up there.

“They really surprised me. Deion Sanders has truly flipped the whole program around. The atmosphere was electrifying and intense, the team fought back hard and the crowd was nuts. It was just a great environment.”

The student section knew who Coleman was. They were chanting his name as he walked through their section. He felt the love from them and the staff. He talked with wide receivers coach Brett Bartolone the most and his experience surpassed his expectations.

“It was just a great experience,” Coleman added. “From the crowd to the atmosphere to the scenery, it was all great. I was so surprised by it all.

“I took pictures with celebrities, I met Coach Prime in the flesh and I learned a lot about the program. Colorado is doing big things.”

Coleman is hoping to be in College Station this weekend to see Texas A&M host Alabama.
