5-star safety Jonah Williams liked the ‘overall presentation” on his official visit to Texas A&M
Galveston (Texas) Ball five-star safety Jonah Williams took his official visit to Texas A&M over the weekend. The No. 11 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking has visited College Station close to half a dozen times. He was last there for the spring game and what the new head coach is doing has his attention.
“The Elko Era, it’s been real as seen,” Williams told On3. “Just what coach Mike Elko is doing has them on my list. The [Texas A&M] program has something coming for sure.”
Williams spent a lot of time with Elko on his official visit. The two have gotten to know each other well. The in-state talent knows he is a top target for the head coach of the Aggies.
“My time with coach Elko was great. His defensive mind is what I like about him knowing he coached safeties. His message for me was that I could come in and change the ways of the defense by being a leader and controlling the defense.”
When Williams wasn’t with Elko, he spent time with other staffers. Multiple football coaches and baseball coaches had meetings with the No. 1 safety in the country. Williams also learned more about the academic side of things at Texas A&M. He got a good look at the overall program and the Aggies remain a strong contender in this race.
“The life after football part definitely caught my eye on this visit,” Williams said. “The analytics they have for each player also stood out. They impressed me with the overall presentation and made me feel good about the program.
“After this visit, I feel great about A&M. The visit did help them and they’re very high on my list.”
Texas A&M is up against “plenty of schools” and after visits to USC and Texas A&M, Williams is planning to visit LSU this weekend, then Oregon on June 21.
