5-star IOL Darius Gray adds Ohio State official visit

Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher’s School five-star interior offensive lineman Darius Gray is not getting shortchanged when it comes to taking visits and seeing his options as one of the most touted prospects in the 2026 cycle.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder is being courted by the who’s who of college football and he’s locked in a host of official visits this summer. Another OV was added to the list on Monday.

Gray told On3’s Chad Simmons that he’s set an official visit to Ohio State for June 11-12.

“What I like about Ohio State is the atmosphere they are building there, but most importantly, they are open to spreading the gospel,” Gray told Simmons.

Gray was in Columbus over the weekend and is feeling like a priority to the Big Ten program. He’s now set to return in a couple of months. Virginia, Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Penn State and South Carolina have also locked in OVs with the five-star.

He is the No. 31 overall prospect and top-ranked IOL in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in Virginia.

At the end of December, Gray named 12 schools at the top of his process. As teams attempt to separate from the middle of the pack, he’s giving everyone a fair shake as he works to find his home at the next level.

“I don’t think any school is on top of the others,” Gray previously said. “All 12, as of right now, are tied for my top schools that I want to go to. I know a lot of people have put a lot of thought into me going to South Carolina or other schools that I’ve been to a lot of times, but honestly, I don’t think anybody has the edge just yet. If that was the case, I would’ve committed by now. So, the top 12 is very important to see what school can stand out and separate themselves from the others.”

Ohio State has top-five 2026 recruiting class

The spring has treated OSU well on the recruiting trail thus far. Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic five-star safety Blaine Bradford, Jacksonville Bolles four-star safety Simeon Caldwell, Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy four-star linebacker CJ Sanna and Southlake (Texas) Carroll four-star wide receiver Brock Boyd are among those who have joined the fold as of late.

Bradford is currently the No. 27 overall prospect and No. 3 safety in the cycle. Caldwell checks in at No. 113 and No. 9 at the safety position.

“My favorite things about Ohio State, the culture, the development, they got the best coaches in the country,” Bradford told On3’s Steve Wiltfong following his decision. “Columbus is a really underrated city but it’s a great city to be in.”

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. told On3 this month that he’s now shut down his recruitment and is fully locking in with the Buckeyes, who have held his commitment since July of 2023.

Other top commits in the class include: Avon Lake (Ohio) four-star interior offensive lineman Max Riley, Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban four-star offensive tackle Sam Greer, Avon (Ohio) four-star athlete Jakob Weatherspoon and Pataskala (Ohio) Watkins Memorial four-star WR Jaeden Ricketts.

The class now features 11 commits and ranks No. 4 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
