5-star CB Charles Lester III focused on four schools

5-star CB Charles Lester III focused on four schools

Sarasota (Fla.) Riverview five-star cornerback Charles Lester III has the attention of schools across the country, but he’s only looking at a select few.

On Saturday, Lester told On3’s Joseph Hastings that he’s in communication with four schools — and four schools only.

Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Ohio State,” he told Hastings. “That’s all I’m looking at. Nobody else.”

Each of those programs have prioritized the nation’s No. 18 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, and he in turn has done the same. Other schools have tried to stay in the mix, and while Lester admits it was hurt to tell them no, he is only focused on those four right now. He doesn’t have plans for a commitment timeline and is instead trying to develop better relationships with each coaching staff.

“I’m just taking my time with it. I’m not rushing anything,” he added. “I’ve been cutting some schools down, and it’s been hard with certain schools. I’ve been there [to visit] at these four I’m looking at it, and now it’s just building a bond and seeing where I want to spend my next three to four years.”

Florida State continues to lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine

Although he didn’t discuss the Seminoles directly, Florida State has set the pace in his recruitment over the past few months, including his ‘best visit yet’ last month.

“Every time I step on the campus, it just means the world to me,” Lester told Warchant. “I [brought] my bags today. I don’t want to go home. Today showed me a lot. It was the biggest impact of any other visit I’ve had.”

The ‘Noles hold a strong advantage in the On3 RPM, but he has plans to officially visit all three of the other schools this summer. Georgia (June 23) and Ohio State (June 16) have already locked in visits, while Alabama is likely to set one up with him on his visit there next week.

“I’ve been to ‘Bama a couple times, so I just want the next couple times I go there to keep bonding more than anything,” he said. “I’ve toured the facilities and did most of the recruiting already. So going forward, I just want to build that relationship with the coaches.”

Lester was originally scheduled to visit the Seminoles in June, but instead has pushed his official visit date back to December prior to the Early Signing Period.

Recent trips to Georgia and Ohio State impressed Charles Lester III

The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder is fresh off a visit to Georgia, where the two-time defending national champions made their case as to why he should commit to the Bulldogs.

“It was good. I had a good time, watched practice to see how it is behind closed doors,” he said. “I was just enjoying the whole recruiting trip.”

Earlier in the month, he made his second-ever trip to Columbus. And while he admitted it was cold outside, he liked the time he spent with the coaching staff and watching practice.

“It was good, I hung out with Coach Day and Coach Walton and got to see how he coaches,” he said. “I checked out the facilities, just had a good time. I’m just taking my time with this.”
