5-star athlete Na’eem Offord: Auburn is ‘still top-tier’

AUBURN – Birmingham (Ala.) Parker five-star cornerback Naeem Offord currently holds 28 offers. Most every top school has extended an offer.

Offord, since the latest rankings update, is now the On3’s No. 4 overall player nationally. He is the No. 6 overall player in the nation in the On3 Industry Rankings which average together each major recruiting service.

Either way you look at it, Offord is a 5-star recruit.

The Tigers extended an offer to Offord when he was on campus for the 2022 season opener against Mercer. The offer came from his area recruiter, who would later become Auburn’s interim head coach Cadillac Williams.

Why does that matter?

Williams has been in constant communication with Offord, even when he was taking in the massive responsibility of interim head coach. For that reason, Auburn has been a constant in Offord’s recruitment, way before he earned his fifth star.

According to Offord, nothing has changed with Auburn since the day he was offered.

“I like them, I like them,” Offord said. “Still top-tier.”

Offord visited Auburn in early March

Offord was unable to make it to Auburn’s junior day with his teammates, so he made his first trip back to Auburn since the 2022 season on March 17.

“For me to look at the new facility, it looked pretty good for the first time,” Offord said. “I had only seen the old facility. I got a chance to get a bond with some of the other coaches.”

According to Offord, Zac Etheridge, Auburn’s safeties coach, has also made a good relationship with him

“It was good, we had a little private conversation,” Offord said.

Relationships like he has with Williams and Etheridge are what make Auburn an important school in his recruitment.

“Relationships and you can look around and see they have more here,” Offord said.

Planning to return several times

Offord spoke with Hugh Freeze in person for the first time. He felt as though Freeze had a presence while hosting many recruiting visitors.

“Confidence,” Offord said. “It’s like he wanted me to be here. He was basically telling me Auburn is home.”

Offord and his teammates want to return to Auburn soon. He has, however, circled a game date to return for.

“I have to get a date, but yes,” Offord said. “Most definitely for the Ole Miss game,” Offord said.
