5 recruits who could set off fireworks by committing to the Miami Hurricanes soon

In honor of the Fourth of July, CaneSport wanted to take a look at a few Miami prospects who could set off fireworks by committing to the Hurricanes soon.

Here are five prospects who could set off serious pyrotechnics in Coral Gables by committing to Miami.

Caleb Odom | 4-star TE (2024) | Carrollton (Ga.) | No. 66 national recruit, No. 4 TE | 6-foot-4, 220 pounds

+++ Odom has been trending toward Alabama according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but Miami is in the top five for the blue-chip prospect expected to announce his decision July 15. The Hurricanes landed his final official visit before his commitment — which he said “really helped” their chances — but are fighting to land the class’ No. 4 tight end. Ole Miss, Florida and Texas A&M are also in his top five.

Davon Mitchell | 4-star TE (2025) | Los Alamitos (Calif.) | No. 29 national recruit, No. 2 TE | 6-foot-3, 250 pounds

+++ Mitchell may be a 2025 prospect, but the elite recruit will announce his decision Saturday as he chooses between Miami, Alabama and Oklahoma. The buzz has been Oklahoma is the school to beat after he visited all three schools in June, but On3’s Chad Simmons has reported the Hurricanes are viewed as the biggest threat to the Sooners. His two visits to Miami this year have significantly changed the way he’s looked at the Hurricanes.

Artavius Jones | 4-star DL (2024) | Blountstown (Fla.) | No. 165 national recruit, No. 20 DL | 6-foot-4, 285 pounds

+++ Jones has been enamored by the Hurricanes throughout his recruitment and is a prospect Miami wants on campus, even though he’s only visited for one official and one unofficial visit. Miami and UCF were the only two schools to receive official visits from him, although the Knights have been aggressively recruiting him for some time and have been major players from the start. He told CaneSport after his Miami official visit that he’s hoping to commit in the near future, and he made our list of priority targets the Hurricanes climbed with most during June’s OVs. His announcement could be imminent.

Jayden Jackson | 3-star DL (2024) | IMG Academy | No. 552 national recruit, No. 50 DL | 6-foot-1.5, 295 pounds

+++ Jackson is listed as a three-star prospect, but he’s received blue-chip caliber attention with official visits to Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami and Florida over the past month. InsideTexas recently reported he’s expected to make a decision before he returns to IMG Academy July 20, and Jackson said after his Miami official visit his mother “absolutely loved” the Hurricanes. He said he thought Miami could be the leading school for his mother in mid-June. He could announce very soon.

Tye Hylton | 3-star OT (2024) | Oviedo (Fla.) | No. 835 national recruit, No. 58 OT | 6-foot-4, 272 pounds

+++ Hylton said after his Miami official visit his commitment timeline could change if the time feels right, but he’s tentatively shooting for making an announcement in late July or early August. This is viewed as an in-state recruiting battle between Miami, Florida and Florida State, and the Gators lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but he’s a prospect the Hurricanes have grown on over the last several months.
