Despite backing off his pledge to Texas on Nov. 29, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound wideout included the Longhorns in his top seven schools. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction MachineAlabama is leading for his commitment at 59.3%.

In addition to this week, Hampton is returning to Austin on the weekend of June 17 for an official visit. He has also scheduled officials to the Crimson Tide (June 24) and UTSA (April 15).

“Alabama and Texas are still up there,” Hampton told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 26. “They are both being considered. I talk to them at least once a week.”

“I feel I can go to Alabama or Texas and compete and make an impact,” he added. “I think I could play on both sides of the ball at Texas. The opportunities are there at both of those schools. The coaches from both schools are consistent with me. I know I am wanted there.”

At the moment, Texas’ 2024 recruiting class contains no wide receivers. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff currently have commitments from two players in Houston (Texas) Clear Lake four-star athlete Hunter Moddon and Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair three-star quarterback Trey Owens.

Hampton shared with Simmons that in addition to Alabama and Texas, LSU is one of his top options. He visited Baton Rouge on the weekend of March 11 and after it, shared that the Tigers were “No. 1” in his recruitment.

“This was a great visit,” Hampton previously told On3. “This was the best visit I have ever taken. The vibe really stood out. I was there for the spring game a year ago and I wasn’t really looking too hard. This time, the vibe was right, and it put LSU on the top of my list

“The coaches welcomed me in with open arms. I was hanging around a few commitments and they didn’t try to do too much. Everyone’s vibe was just good and everything felt right.”
