4-star TE sets return visit to Miami for Texas A&M matchup: ‘They’re near the top for me’

4-star TE sets return visit to Miami for Texas A&M matchup: ‘They’re near the top for me’

Following his decommitment from LSU in June, Miami has continued to make a run at Pickerington (Ohio) Central four-star tight end Tayvion Galloway, who is a big fan of the Hurricanes and the direction they’re heading under head coach Mario Cristobal

“Very high,” Galloway told CaneSport when asked what his interest in Miami was. “I see a ton of upside with their program, and I think they have the chance to be very successful.”

With Miami’s 2023 season set to kick off tonight against Miami (Ohio), Galloway plans on attending the Hurricanes week two matchup against Texas A&M, which is shaping out to be one of Miami’s biggest recruiting weekends early this season.

“I’ll be down for the Texas A&M game,” Galloway said. “They [Miami] are near the top for me.”

Thus far, Galloway, who is the No. 312 overall prospect and No. 21 tight end in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, has forged strong relationships with Cristobal and tight ends coach Cody Woodiel.

Miami’s message to the 6-foot-4, 218-pound recruit?

They are very high on me and want me big-time,” Galloway said. “Coach Cristobal and Woodiel have made it very clear how badly they want to land me.”

Growing up, Galloway was a big Miami fan thanks to his father, Jason Galloway, who introduced him to the program when he was younger.

“I’ve always been interested in Miami, and that’s always been my dream school,” Galloway said in January when he was still committed to the Tigers. “Growing up, I used to watch them all the time with my dad because that was his favorite team. Ever since they offered me, they’ve been pressing me to come to take a visit.”

His shared love for the Hurricanes and their history of producing great tight ends has piqued his interest in the program and has them in the running to land their second tight end this cycle.

“They are known as Tight End U, so that’s a big deal to get the chance to be developed by a program with that stamp attached,” Galloway said.

CaneSport’s take

Galloway has been a name Miami has been monitoring for some time now, dating back to January when he last visited while he was still committed to LSU. From the looks of it, it seems like the Hurricanes are positioning themselves to make a run for Galloway, and if they can pull out a big win against the Aggies at home, that will only boost their chances to land the big-time pass catcher.
