4-star SG Kiyan Anthony, son of Carmelo Anthony, talks Syracuse, Tennessee, Indiana, and more

Kiyan Anthony is the No. 29 ranked player in the current 2025 On3 150. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard at Long Island Lutheran/NY averaged 22.3 points while shooting 40.0 percent on 7.7 attempts from three with Team Melo during Nike’s EYBL Indianapolis stop this weekend.

“My physicality has gotten a lot better,” Anthony told On3. “I’m playing smarter on the court, knowing when to take the shot and when to play make. I’m working out a lot with my dad now and he keeps dropping a lot of gems on me and I feel like I’m applying that to my game really well.”

The four-star has taken official visits to Florida State and Syracuse. On3 was able to catch up with Kiyan Anthony to get an updated view of his recruitment.

“I want to take a second visit to Syracuse,” Anthony said. “I want to go see Indiana and Tennessee too.”

Anthony talks recruiting

INDIANA: “I talk with Coach Ya (assistant coach Yasir Rosemond) often and Coach Woody (Mike Woodson) calls me every now and again. I’m looking to set up an official visit with them. I’m waiting until after USA Camp and after EYBL slows down, like in July.

“(Coach Woodson) is like my Godfather. I had the opportunity to train with him a lot when I was younger. He showed me the path to make it to the highest level possible. Now that he is at Indiana, and I have the opportunity to play with him, it’s all just a blessing.”

SYRACUSE: “My relationship has definitely grown with the head coach. Coach (Adrian) Autry has shown a lot of love. I mean, their whole coaching staff is here watching me for every game. That shows they’re really interested in me, and not just because of my dad. They’re really invested in what I can do on the court.

“My bond with them is really with the assistant coach. He really shows me a lot of love and has become a friend and a mentor to me. I appreciate him for that. Last year was Coach Autry’s first season there, so he is still getting acclimated to The Dome and to the atmosphere there. Now he’s really taking steps in the recruiting process. They’re getting five-star Donavan Freeman to go there, and Eli (Elijah Moore) is going there. So I feel like they’re taking steps.”

TENNESSEE: “I haven’t really talked with the head coach at Tennessee yet, but the assistant coach, Rod Clark reaches out to me a lot. I really enjoyed watching them play in the NCAA Tournament. Their run to the Sweet 16, I like how they play. They have big guards and play at a fast pace, so I like that.”

FLORIDA STATE: “My relationship with them has grown with Coach (Kevin) Nickelberry. And Coach Ham (Leonard Hamilton) calls me when he can.”

“I’ve been talking to Auburn and Wisconsin a lot since the live period started,” Anthony said. “If they were to offer, I would want to get out and go see them. Arizona State offered me recently and I have been in contact a lot. So I’m looking at them, I feel like they’re on the come up.”

In his words

“Right now the plan is to drop a top five or top seven after the fourth (EYBL) session,” Kiyan Anthony said. “And then try to be committed by November or December.

“I’m going to look at who all is there, the guys who are there, and the relationship that I have with the coaches. I want to be in a winning culture and a family culture. Academics will play a part for me too, because I want to finish school.

“I’d like to go to a school that is not in the middle of nowhere. I want to go somewhere that has a little bit of an atmosphere. But really, the winning culture. I want to win.”
