4-star SF Anthony Thompson updates recruitment; talks programs like Ohio State, Purdue, Penn State, and more

Anthony Thompson jumped all the way to No. 17 overall in the latest 2026 On3 150 update. The 6-foot-7 small forward who played with the Indy Elite program on the Adidas 3SSB 16u Circuit recently announced he would be transferring to Hudson (OH) Western Reserve Academy.

“I would describe my game as versatile,” Thompson told On3. “I’m able to use my length and my skills and ability to help my team win. I’ve gained a lot of strength and I’ve learned my body a lot better. I have learned how to move a lot better in general. I’m using my length to become more physical. I watch a lot of Kevin Durant and Jayson Tatum. Guys who have a similar build and size, so I take some of the things they do in their game and try to add it to mine.”

On3 caught up with four-star Anthony Thompson after a recent live viewing to discuss the current state of his recruitment.

“I’ve taken unofficial visits to Ohio State, Indiana, Purdue, Penn State, and Texas so far,” Ingram said. “They’ve all offered me.”

Thompson talks schools

OHIO STATE: “I have a good relationship with the staff. It’s obviously a big environment. They have a lot of students there, and a lot of things in general. They have a college atmosphere and a lot of fans.”

INDIANA: “It’s a very historic basketball program with a very deep culture in basketball. They have a big fan base and they have a great atmosphere for games. I have a great relationship with the coaches and they are interested in me as a player and a person.”

PURDUE: “I went to Purdue during the season, so I was able to go to a game. They have a great atmosphere there. Great players and a great team overall and it showed why they were able to go as far at they did last year.”

PENN STATE: “My relationship with Coach (Mike) Rhoades is good. He is a very vibrant coach and he shows a lot of interest in me. I really appreciate that. They play fast and they tell me how they like my versatility and length and that I can space the floor.”

TEXAS: “They talked a lot to me about my versatility and they think that my length and game would be a great fit for their program and what they’re building. They like my potential and what I could be when I get to college.”

In Anthony Thompson’s words

“I don’t have any upcoming visits planned yet,” Thompson said. “But my plan moving forward is to just keep building relationships with the coaches. We’ll look through what the school’s plans are for me and then my family and I will sit down and decide which schools we want to visit and go see more about.

“I want to go to a program where I can grow as a player and a person and get a good education. But I want to go somewhere that has a good plan for me, where I can develop as a player and get ready for that next level. Also, I want to be able to play to win.”
