4-star S Jaylen Heyward visits Miami for second time in 2 months as Hurricanes try to flip Georgia commit

Rockledge (Fla.) 2024 four-star safety Jaylen Heyward visited Miami for the second time in two months Saturday as the Hurricanes continue their push to flip the No. 53 overall prospect away from Georgia.

Heyward, a 5-foot-10.5, 175-pound defensive back and No. 3 safety in the class, returned to Coral Gables after previously visiting the Hurricanes March 23. He’s already locked in his Miami official visit June 24, but he still wanted to visit campus again Saturday to build on his relationship with the Hurricanes’ staff. He also holds a 94.47 On3 Industry Grade.

“I felt like it was important for me to get down here today just to hang out, get to know (the staff) a little more on a personal level,” Heyward said. “It’s really getting to know them on a personal level.”

Heyward was one of more than a dozen priority and blue-chip recruits invited to a massive pool party at head coach Mario Cristobal’s house Saturday evening and has been encouraged by what the Hurricanes have shown him on his two trips south.

Miami’s staff has told the Georgia commit he can do everything in Miami he was going to do in Athens — all while restoring The U to its former glory.

“(The staff says) I could bring the crib back to what it used to be with Ray Lewis and Sean Taylor and everyone,” Heyward said. “At Miami, they’re trying to recruit harder because they’ve fallen off in the last few years, and they’re trying to get back up there with the UGAs, the Alabamas, the LSUs.”

Miami is the only program Heyward has visited during the evaluation period and does not have any further unofficial visits set before the start of the summer. He’ll take an official visit to Georgia June 10 before his Miami official visit June 24.

Miami is currently fourth to land Heyward on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine behind Georgia, Florida and UCF.

He also has an On3 NIL Valuation of $159k.

CaneSport’s Take

Georgia is still the clear frontrunner for Heyward, but I’d probably list Miami and Florida in a tie for second for the four-star prospect. UCF has crept up Heyward’s radar, however, as they’ve made him feel like a priority recruit in recent weeks and were the first Florida school to offer him.

But it feels like all three programs have a mountain to climb to beat out the Bulldogs.
