4-star RB with offer getting push from Hurricanes commit Kevin Riley: “I wouldn’t mind playing at Miami”

With one running back from Alabama committed to Miami in the 2024 class in Kevin Riley, the Hurricanes hope to land another in Elba (Ala.) 2025 four-star running back Alvin Henderson, who recently narrowed his list of programs to 10 schools, which included the Canes.
Alongside Miami, the Alabama native listed Auburn, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Arkansas, Southern Cal, Penn State, Oregon, and Tennessee among his top schools.
“I wouldn’t mind playing at Miami with Kevin (Riley),” Henderson told CaneSport. “Both Alabama guys teaming up together and dominating in the ACC. That would be crazy with him in the 2024 class and me in the 2025 class going down there and taking over.”
Despite changes among the Hurricanes coaching staff this offseason, Miami has remained one of Henderson’s top schools throughout his recruiting process.
“Even with coach (Kevin) Smith, who is now at Ole Miss, and the running back coach changing to coach (Tim) Harris, they have always been loyal and keeping up with me,” Henderson said. “Coach (Mario) Cristobal and all the other assistants have always shown me that I’m a big priority to them, and they want to get me there.”
While Miami’s staff has done their fair share of recruiting, so has Riley, who committed to the Hurricanes in June over the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, and Auburn.
“He told me when he goes down there he loves everything about it,” Henderson said. “He loves the staff, facilities, and the way the coaches make him feel. He pretty much gave me the inside scoop of what it’s like down there.”
Hearing that from someone Henderson trust was a bit of reassurance for the 5-foot-9, 185-pounder.
“That made me feel pretty good,” Henderson said. “I haven’t been down there, but that lets me know when I go down there what I should be looking forward to.”
Now with his attention focused on his top 10 programs including Miami, Henderson, who is the No. 89 player, the No. 8 running back, and the No. 9 player in the state of Alabama according to the On3 Industry Ranking, knows what he’ll be paying attention to the most moving forward.
“The main thing I’ll be looking forward to is if a school can build a strong relationship with my mom,” Henderson said. “That’s the biggest factor. Whichever coach comes through and builds the biggest relationship with not only me and my mom but my entire family too, that’s going to play a big role (in my recruitment).”
CaneSport’s take
Despite not yet visiting Coral Gables (which he plans to do during the season), the Hurricanes have made a strong impression on Henderson early on. While Henderson has been pleased with Miami’s recruiting efforts and continued growth around the program and facilities, the result on the field will be what he wants to see the most moving forward throughout his recruiting process as he grows his relationship with the Hurricanes.
