4-star RB Michael Turner recaps SMU official visit

2025 North Richland Hills (Texas) four-star running back Michael Turner wrapped up his SMU official visit on Sunday. Turner said the coaches set the bar for his recruitment.

“It was cool,” Turner told On3. “I had a lot of fun with the players and coaches and recruits. It’s home, nothing better than this and it doesn’t get no better than this.”

SMU analyst Tyler Foster and running backs coach Kyle Cooper are building strong relationships with the four-star prospect. The coaching staff see a bright future for the Top 100 prospect.

“Him and coach Coop are real cool,” Turner said. “Their message is, ‘to go where they want you.’ They say I got a chance to do big things on a big-time level.”

Next up for Turner is a decision at the end of June. Before that, he’s visiting Washington May 31, Oklahoma State June 6 and Baylor June 14. SMU leads on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

He is the No. 113 overall prospect and No. 6 RB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 ranks Turner higher than other recruiting services. He checks in at No. 51 overall, No. 3 at his position and No. 13 in the Lone Star State in the updated 2025 On300.

As a junior, Turner exploded with 1,625 yards and 22 rushing scores. Through his first three seasons of varsity football, he averaged 7.8 yards per carry and reached the end zone 36 times.
