4-star RB Kevin Riley has Miami Hurricanes ‘sitting right in my recruitment’ after official visit

4-star RB Kevin Riley has Miami Hurricanes ‘sitting right in my recruitment’ after official visit

For the second time this year, Northport (Al.) Tuscaloosa County 2024 four-star running back Kevin Riley made his way down to South Florida for a visit with the Miami Hurricanes, this time for an official visit.

The No. 81 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 5 running back in the class felt the visit went well overall and was impressed by Miami’s “day in the life” experience over the weekend — not to mention plenty of fun with his host, freshman running back Mark Fletcher — and expects the Hurricanes to continue to be a big part of his recruitment moving forward.

However, it’s still difficult to tell where specifically Miami sits in the mix with programs like Alabama and Auburn, who have also recruited Riley aggressively. Riley’s trip to Miami was his first official visit of the summer, and it’s not expected he will take other visits till the fall.

“Miami, they’re sitting right in my recruitment,” Riley said. “They’ve been recruiting me hard since they offered me and since I was playing during the season. I feel like Miami’s a big part of my recruiting process.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Hurricanes are the current favorite to land Riley’s commitment with a 42.5% probability over the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, and Auburn.

Much of Miami’s recruiting pitch also centered around what the program can offer outside of football and life after football, Riley said, in addition to the more traditional showing of where the staff sees Riley fitting in with the program and the team’s championship expectations.

“The visit was fun, getting to see the facilities, tour the stadium, just seeing what the Miami Hurricanes do in a day in the life,” Riley said. “What student do in going to class, dealing with academics, it was a fun experience. It was a pretty fun visit.”

He said he’s in the process of figuring out return visits for a game or practice later this season.

CaneSport’s Take

Riley’s official visit came one week after Miami hosted four-star running back Jerrick Gibson, the No. 2 running back in the class, on his own official visit as the Hurricanes make their moves at the running back position. It looks like Miami will most likely end up taking one of the two running backs this class as of now, although if both Gibson and Riley both showed strong interest in wanting to play in Coral Gables, discussions would likely be had about adding both prospects.
