4-star OT Ja’Eylne Matthews details Orange & White game visit to Tennessee
Toms River North High School (N.J) standout offensive tackle Ja’Elyne Matthews was back at Tennessee on Saturday for another visit with the Vols. Following the Orange and White game visit, he detailed the stop with Volquest.
“I enjoyed hanging around the fans,” Matthews said of what he enjoyed the most about the visit. “They are great people. They really support their team and Rocky Top a lot. Enjoyed seeing the team play. It is an amazing place to be and that is what I enjoyed. I enjoyed being around the coaches and all of the people.”
Having the opportunity to experience a game day atmosphere on Rocky Top was exciting for the four-star prospect.
“It was cool,” Matthews said of this. “I felt like a part of the team right away which is exactly what I recruitment to be about is being a part of a family.”
Matthews and veteran offensive line coach Glen Elarbee have continued to hit it off during the recruiting process.
“It is amazing, he is a great guy,” Matthews said of Elarbee. “He is a great leader and a great person. I am excited to keep building that relationship.”
The top-75 prospect has also built a solid connection with Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel.
He is a great guy,” Matthews said of Heupel. “He is high energy and a great person. I am excited to keep building the relationship with him. He is a funny guy. I am excited to keep seeing what they do during the season.”
Matthews continues to ready for June official visits, but he knows exactly what he could bring to the table at Tennessee if he chooses the Vols in the end.
“I feel like I could help bring them a national championship and help the offensive line,” Matthews said. “I could bring leadership and loyalty. Whatever school I commit to, I am bringing loyalty. It is ride or die for me.”
