4-star OT Ethan Calloway finalizes official visit itinerary with Florida Gators
To say the Gators will be hosting an impressive group of official visitors on June 2-4 might be an understatement.
Ten prospects have already confirmed their itinerary for the weekend, with four-star offensive tackle Ethan Calloway being the latest addition to the list. He confirmed those plans on Friday when speaking with Gators Online. It will mark the 2024 prospect’s third visit to Gainesville.
Calloway, who straps up the pads for Mooresville (N.C.) Lake Norman, had offensive coordinator Rob Sale at his school this week as well. UF was recently included his top eight and will be looking to knock it out of the park again when Calloway and his loved ones return to campus just over a month from now.
“They are really cool. With Florida being the only school in the country with a two offensive line coaching system, they are really cool,” Calloway said of Rob Sale and Darnell Stapletor after last month’s visit.
“I got to see their practice. Coaching 15 guys with one coach, I can see how that would be difficult, but when you see them split it up, it’s cool. There is a lot of one-on-one time.
“After just getting to talk to them, me and my mom can both agree that everyone seems so genuine. You don’t feel like whenever they are talking to you, they are saying what you want to hear. Everything they are saying seems like it’s really true and genuine.”
Calloway could ultimately outplay his lofty ranking
Standing 6-foot-7, 300 pounds, Calloway boasts the physical makeup to go a long way in this sport. On top of that, he does not hold much bad weight either. He has a long way to go before transforming into a finished product, but his offer sheet does all the talking.
In addition to the Gators, Calloway is heavily considering Auburn, FSU, Georgia, LSU, North Carolina, Penn State and Tennessee. He checks in as On3’s 10th-ranked offensive tackle in the 2024 class.
“The big thing (UF) said is potential,” Calloway said. “I can’t remember the exact words, but me and my dad were joking about how a lot of people think I’m just a big ball of potential. Stapleton cut me off and was like, ‘We don’t think you are a big ball of potential; we know you are a big ball of potential.’”
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, N.C. State is trending with odds of 22.1 percent; however, with the Wolfpack now on the outside looking in, that will eventually change. Also, the Gators are not far behind that No. 1 spot at 19.3 percent.
