4-star Miami RB commit expected to visit for Auburn-Samford game
While the Auburn Georgia game will be star-studded, there are still a few stars planning to be on the plains when the Tigers take on Samford. Miami 4-star running back commit Kevin Riley is expected to visit Auburn over the weekend.
Riley is the No. 71 overall player in the country, the No. 6 running back, and the No. 6 player in the state of Alabama according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
On May 13, Auburn Live mentioned that Miami was possibly in the mix. That proved to be more than true. Even then, we said that it was very possible Riley lands at an in-state school. That still seems likely as he remains committed to the Hurricanes. His expected Auburn visit helps give that merit.
“This is an Iron Bowl battle with Miami possibly in the mix,” Auburn Live wrote in May. “He will more than likely end up at one of the in-state schools. Auburn is not going away and making real progress in its attempt to land the stud running back.”
Riley is very close with Tigers’ running back coach Cadillac Williams. He has stated that many times. Our recent intel suggests that the relationship continues to be strong and a factor keeping Auburn in Riley’s recruitment.
Two strengths
— Riley is a shifty runner with an advanced skill set in the open field. He is not the biggest guy, but runs with confidence and shiftiness and can be a home run threat from anywhere on the field.
— Riley has that combination of very good short-area burst and long-speed. He can make people miss, then out run angles on his way to the end zone. He does all of this while weighing around 190 pounds with a frame to play above 200 pounds. Riley is close to a complete back.
One area for improvement
— Riley plays with extreme confidence. He reminds me of Tank Bigsby in that he believes every play could be a touchdown. Sometimes, he needs to wind it back and be a little more patient. He’s good between the tackles, but has a tendency to want to do too much rather than take what is given. His talent and confidence feed into that, but it will have to be controlled on the next level.
