4-star Miami Hurricanes legacy continues to build a bond with coaches, was at spring game: “It was great … I liked the vibes”

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas 2024 On300 four-star safety Ryan Mack is one of several outstanding South Florida prospects that the Miami Hurricanes would like to keep at home, and Mario Cristobal and his staff have made that clear to them. Mack, who attended Miami’s 2023 spring game, was delighted to see what the ‘Canes had to offer on the field while also continuing to strengthen his connection with them off the field.

“It was great, and I liked the vibes,” Mack told CaneSport. “The coaches came and talked to us whenever they could, and I always like that. The game was intense too, the offense made some plays and the defense did too.”

Following Miami’s spring game, the Hurricanes received a commitment from Mack’s St. Thomas Aquinas teammate and longtime friend, four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson, which caught the attention of the No. 201 prospect in the 2024 cycle according to On3.

“There’s always that feeling when I see my brother commit to somewhere,” Mack said when asked if Robinson’s commitment affected the way he looked at Miami. “We’ve been playing together since we were 12 years old and up, so I would like that.”

It is well known that Mack’s father, Roderick Mack, was a former Hurricane linebacker, but the No. 23 safety, according to On3, has begun to establish his own connection with the Hurricanes.

“What makes Miami stand out is the culture,” Mack said. “There’s always been that culture they are ‘The U’. Also, the relationship that they are building with not only me but with everybody else. You can tell they are genuine.”

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound defensive back, who holds 15 offers from the likes of Alabama, Penn State, Florida State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Pitt, Louisville, and Miami, would not specify exactly which programs were leading in his commitment but did say the Hurricanes “are definitely up there” when it comes to schools that he favors at the moment.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Hurricanes are tabbed as the early favorites to land Mack’s commitment, leading all programs with a 47.6% probability. Rounding out the top three after Miami are Florida State with a 28.2% probability and Penn State with a 12.7% probability.

When asked what will be the deciding factors in his commitment, Mack previously told CaneSport that, “whoever shows the most promise for my future to get me where I need to be in life and my football career” will be who he eventually commits to.

“It’ll come down to just really the relationships and how I fit into a school,” Mack added.

CaneSport’s take

Mack has seen his stock rise a bit this spring, and the Hurricanes have continued to remain in consistent contact with the Miami Legacy. Thus far, Miami looks to be the team to beat in the race for Mack.
