4-star LB Christian Gass arrives for Florida Gators official visit
Official visit No. 1 is about to kick into gear for Covington (Ga.) Eastside linebacker Christian Gass.
On Friday, the 4-star prospect arrived in Gainesville for his Florida Gators official visit. Billy Napier‘s program currently holds the slight edge over Georgia in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Let’s learn more about the On300 prospect below.
Everything you need to know about Christian Gass
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 278 prospect | No. 30 linebacker | No. 32 prospect in Georgia
Commitment Status: Uncommitted
Top Contenders: Florida, Georgia, USC, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc.
Other Official Visits: USC (June 7), Georgia (June 14), Kentucky (June 17) and Tennessee (June 21).
Florida’s Need: The Gators signed a strong linebacker class in December and can build on that with a top target like Gass. Florida’s staff is comparing him to Grayson Howard, another MIKE linebacker standing 6-foot-4. This would be a quality addition for the Gators.
Recruitment 411: Official visits will have a significant impact, but Florida and Tennessee have been recruiting Gass the hardest as of late. Keep an eye on in-state Georgia as well. As for the Gators, they have been consistent all year and are making a strong case heading into this weekend.
Three things to like about Gass: The Georgia native is fluid in the open field and gets downfield in a hurry. His open-field ability really stands out. I like how he affects the game off the edge as well. He does a good job of accelerating at the snap and making plays behind the line. There is versatility in Christian Gass’ game, making him that much more intriguing for schools.
Notable Quotes: “I spent a lot of time with (assistant linebackers) coach Cannon (Gibbs) and (linebackers) coach (Ron) Roberts. Honestly, I really spent time with all the linebackers coaches and the defensive coordinator. Speaking with them each and every time, they tell me I’m a priority and can do a lot of things in their defense.
“Just explaining to me and showing me all the things I can do, that’s just stuff I look at. They are always trying to help me get better, showing me drills I can do right now for my senior season. The biggest thing to me was them just showing how the drills incorporate to an actual game and showing how each little thing matters because it leads up to the big plays.” — CHRISTIAN GASS
