4-star EDGE Solomon Williams previews Texas visit

Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day four-star EDGE Solomon Williams has never attended a college football game in person. At least, that is, until he visits Texas this weekend for the Longhorns’ game against Wyoming.
Williams’ official visit to Austin adds to his list of officials that includes a June trip to Alabama and an upcoming visit to Oregon.
Needless to say, Williams is excited to see the atmosphere that Austin has in store.
“I’m excited. I mean it’s Texas,” Williams told On3. ”They just came off of a huge win, they moved the game to a 7 o’clock game so it’s going to be a night game. So it’s still going to be ecstatic. The stadium should be jumping, especially after their first win. So I’m just excited for the atmosphere.”
SEC move attractive to recruits
A huge win, indeed. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his Texas Longhorns marched into Tuscaloosa and took down No. 3 Alabama 34-24, ending a slew of streaks and records for the Tide.
That game deep in SEC country may have served as a preview of what is to come for Texas, who makes the move into that conference official next season. A move that plays a part in Williams’ interest in the Longhorns.
“Going to the SEC,” Williams said about what interests him with Texas. “Also just their need for me, need for a pass rusher. Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) and coach PK (Pete Kwiatkowski) — they’re stressing to me that they need a pass rusher. Going to the SEC, especially with everyone throwing the ball, they need one. That need one to get the quarterback on the ground. So especially their need for me in the program.”
Texas will face Wyoming, who is 2-0 with a win over Longhorns in-state Big 12 rival Texas Tech. Williams is part of a long list of visitors that includes St. Louis University five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo and more.
