4-star EDGE KingJoseph Edwards looking at Miami fall official visit
Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek 2024 four-star EDGE KingJoseph Edwards is looking at taking an official visit to Miami this fall, the No. 110 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking told CaneSport.
Edwards visited Coral Gables for Miami’s March 4 junior day and has stayed in touch with Miami co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor over the past several months. The 6-foot-3.5, 220-pound prospect is hearing from Oklahoma, Miami, South Carolina and Tennessee the most and said South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia visited his school earlier this month.
Miami’s recruiting pitch?
“Basically that Cristobal came from a winning team (at Oregon) and is building the program back up how it used to be,” Edwards said. “And I’ll be coached by a hall-of-famer (in Taylor). …I’ll be back on campus for an official (visit) in the season.”
Edwards said he wants to take his Miami official visit during the season instead of over the summer because he wants to see a game in South Florida. He already has a good feel for the vibe on Coral Gables during the offseason and wants to be in town for a game day, and he continues to feel “very good” about Miami thanks to his relationships with Taylor and head coach Mario Cristobal.
He also wants to take official visits to Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Alabama, USC and South Carolina with the NCAA removing the limit on how many official visits recruits can take. He already has an official visit to Ohio State set for June 16.
Edwards believes relationships will be a major factor in his recruitment, although he has a few other criteria as well.
“I want to play my freshman year,” Edwards said. “I don’t have to start, but I want to play, (then) a good relationship with my position coach and head coach. I also want to major in psychology, so a school that offers a psychology program.”
His mother, Alicia, also feels good about Miami and has been very involved in his recruitment.
“We love Miami,” Alicia said. “The Hurricanes, (KingJoseph) and Cristobal have a very close relationship. Cristobal checked up on him a lot when he was injured, and they communicate on the regular, especially Cristobal and Jason Taylor.”
Georgia continues to lead for Edwards in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine while Miami sits second. USC and Ohio State come in third and fourth, respectively.
He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $105k.
CaneSport’s Take
Miami has done plenty to stay in the picture for Edwards and will certainly have its chance to land the four-star prospect as long as the Hurricanes get him back to campus this fall.
