4-star EDGE Cedric Works earns Gators offer, sets official visit
Another SEC program has come calling for Cedric Works, as the 4-star EDGE landed an offer from Florida on Wednesday evening.
In addition to that, the Dayton (Ohio) Northmont star has scheduled an official visit for June 14-16. That will mark his first-ever experience at the Swamp.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Works is the No. 19 EDGE and No. 143 prospect overall.
“Florida has just been one of my top schools for a while. I’ve always been interested in them,” Works told Gators Online. “My father is actually from Florida and he is a Gators fan. That plays a little part in it. They’ve just always been around.”
Outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson and assistant linebackers coach Cannon Gibbs are the ones maintaining contact with Works. Peterson also dropped by the defender’s school on Tuesday, all leading to tonight’s latest offer.
“He made it clear to me that he wants me,” Works said of Peterson. “He likes my ability but wants me to stay focused and keep putting the work on.”
Additional official visit destinations are Penn State (May 31) and Kentucky (June 21). Those programs currently boast the highest odds in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with the Nittany Lions trending at 42 percent.
You can now place the Gators in that top category as well.
“They’re one of my top schools,” Works said of Florida.
If all goes as planned, the Midwest native will make his commitment sometime prior to the season.
Stay tuned to Gators Online.
