4-star DL TJ Lindsey says ‘Auburn’s chances are very high’

One of the big June official visitors was TJ Lindsey, a 4-star defensive lineman from Bryant (Ark.) who will play for IMG Academy in the fall.
Lindsey is the No. 330 overall player in the country, the No. 30 defensive lineman in the country, and the No. 49 player in the state of Florida according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
He has seen a significant rankings boost lately as he was the No. 430 overall player at last check.
According to Lindsey, his Auburn visit in early June was strong and helped “boost” the Tigers’ chances.
“Oh, the visit was great,” Lindsey said after his visit. “This is the best visit I’ve been on so far. This was my first time down here, I was supposed to come, but I don’t think Coach Freeze was here. This was my first time but I’ll be back, definitely. Probably for a game. I loved my time down here.”
Texas visit was good
Texas, who is surely one of the top contenders, gave Lindsey a strong visit as well.
“I just got done at Texas,” Lindsey said Tuesday afternoon. “Texas was a really good visit. One of my favorites. I learned some of the benefits to being a Longhorn on the field and off the field.”
The Longhorns see him as a versatile option on the defensive line.
“They said they could legitimately see me anywhere, but mainly from a 9 to a 3, maybe a nose on passing situations and stuff like that,” Lindsey said.
How did Auburn stack up?
According to Lindsey, the Auburn and Texas visits stand out the most.
“All of the visits have been really good, Auburn was definitely one of the two best I would say,” Lindsey said. “I learned a lot and I would say Auburn and Texas are probably the best ones.”
He continues to hear from Auburn coaches very often. He feels as though he has become a priority for the Tigers’ staff.
“Yeah me and Coach (Jeremy) Garrett talk weekly,” Lindsey said. “He, Coach (Hugh) Freeze, and Coach (Vontrell) King-Williams.”
What are Auburn’s chances with Lindsey?
“Auburn’s chances are very high, I would say they are probably in the top three, and that could be anybody,” Lindsey said. “Same situation with (Texas).”
Who else is in the picture?
“I would say Miami for sure, they’re running neck and neck. Then Texas A&M,” Lindsey said. “Those are the four main ones.”
What is next?
When might a decision happen?
“I don’t know yet, I don’t have a timeline yet,” Lindsey said.
What is next on his recruiting itinerary?
“Maybe some games but I don’t know yet,” Lindsey said.
According to Lindsey, Auburn is heavily in the running because it has everything he wanted to see.
“They just have everything that I am looking for and that I would want or need,” he said.
