4-star DL: ‘Florida is recruiting me really hard’
When the Florida Gators host their Grill in the ‘Ville cookout on July 27, numerous targets will be present for the festivities.
One of them is a long-time defensive line target in 2026 4-star Kendall Guervil. The Fort Myers (Fla.) standout hasn’t been on campus in 2024 but did visit multiple times last year, resulting in Florida’s early surge in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
“I’m going to Georgia on the 24-25th and then I should be going down to Florida right after that for the cookout,” Guervil told Gators Online. “I like the coaching staff and environment over there. They make you feel welcome and it feels like home.”
Tasked with recruiting Guervil to the Swamp are defensive line coach Gerald Chatman and assistant defensive line coach Luis McLeod. Billy Napier is making his presence felt from time to time as well.
All in all, the 6-foot-4, 265-pound rising junior says love from the Gators is definitely pouring in. He was offered nearly a year ago, but it’s been another level of communication since June 15.
“We have a good bond and are real close and real tight. I also speak with Billy Napier. I have a good relationship with him also,” said Guervil. “Florida is recruiting me really hard right now. Since day one, they’ve been recruiting him really hard and I really like that about them.”
The point of emphasis during those conversations with the SEC coaching staff?
“What I like about them is they make me feel like a player there,” said Guervil. “I like how straightforward they are. It’s kind of hard to explain.”
Several schools are moving the needle with Kendall Guervil
Although the Gators boast RPM odds of 74.3 percent, Guervil doesn’t have an official leader. He has yet to release a top group of contenders either but says over a handful are pushing the right buttons.
Those Power-Four programs are Florida, Georgia, Miami, USC and Syracuse.
“Florida is sitting in my top five right now,” said Guervil.
According to the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Guervil is the No. 17 defensive lineman and No. 171 prospect overall.
During the 2023 season, the blue-chip defender recorded 49 tackles (26 solo), 5.5 sacks, three fumbles recoveries and two forced fumbles for the 8-3 Green Wave.
