4-star Alabama DL commit Jeremiah Beaman on Auburn official visit: ‘It made me look at things different’
AUBURN – Alabama defensive line commit Jeremiah Beaman from Birmingham (Ala.) Parker took his official visit to Auburn over the weekend. While Beaman did not give a lot away after the visit, he did admit that the Tigers helped themselves in their attempt to flip him.
Beaman is wanted by Auburn, of course, but he really felt like it during the visit.
“It was amazing,” Beaman said. “Just the love and the amount of support they have around the facility just made me feel like a wanted prospect.”
‘Made me look at things different’
Beaman was impressed with the defensive line. He felt they held their own against one of the best offensive lines in the country.
“I didn’t think the defensive line did bad, I think everybody did their job right besides a few mental mistakes,” Beaman said. “Then, just a player that started standing out on the offensive side.”
While he was impressed, he knows there is a place for him to fit in and play early in his career.
“They need defensive linemen my size and athleticism,” Beaman said. “They want big ends on the edge like myself.”
Beaman trains with Jayson Jones and Enyce Sledge among others. He hung out with those players all weekend, including freshman defensive lineman Keldric Faulk.
“They were trying to,” Beaman said. “I mostly hung out with Jayson Jones, Keldric (Faulk), and just chopped it up the whole weekend. Those guys are like my brothers. Jayson is like a big brother, I just love seeing them. Most of the time I’m getting insiders from them. Just seeing where their mind is at.”
‘Not just telling me what I want to hear’
Beaman has been to Auburn many times, what changed after this visit at Auburn?
“My mindset on how they are recruiting me definitely shows me they really want me and they mean it,” Beaman said. “They’re not just telling me what I want to hear.”
How much did Auburn’s performance against Georgia mean to him?
“It was huge,” Beaman said. “It made me look at things different, you know?”
Beaman, who says he will be back for the Iron Bowl, is not able to say much about whether or not Auburn has a shot to flip him at this time.
“I really can’t say right now, I have to sit down with my parents and my trainer,” Beaman said.
