3-star S Quentin Reddish locks in NC State official visit

3-star S Quentin Reddish locks in NC State official visit

NC State offered Quentin Reddish a scholarship Feb. 22. The 6-3, in-state safety is now a priority for the program. He hears from the staff at least once per week coming off of his recent trip to Raleigh for the spring game.

That was his second visit with the Wolfpack this year and his first after picking up an offer. He also stopped by campus for the program’s Jan. 21 junior day.

Reddish really enjoyed that initial visit, and he knew his return to NC State would only amplify that feeling. He ended up locking an official visit for the weekend of June 16.

“I liked it the first time, I liked it the second time,” Reddish said.

“I did watch their defense in the spring game. They were flying around, so I really did enjoy that part.”

The Wolfpack appeared on Reddish’s top 3 schools list April 6, joining Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. He said NC State made the cut in-part because of the defense’s reputation under coordinator Tony Gibson

“They’re hard-hitters, they play a variety of defenses, they have a lot of packages,” Reddish said. “I feel like, if I go, I could be very productive for them.”

During his time on campus April 8, he spent a couple of hours with safeties coach Joe DeForest before the spring game began. The Pack assistant coach is Reddish’s primary recruiter.

“He’s cool,” Reddish said. “He contacts me at least once a week, minimum. We talk on the phone a lot.”

Reddish wanted to learn more about the day-to-day life of a student-athlete with the program. NC State’s staff explained that the program focuses on early-morning workouts, which the Independence High safety said fits his personality well.

Wake Forest began recruiting Reddish in 2022 and Virginia Tech contacts the class of 2024 prospect more than anyone, reaching out up to three times per week. Even though the other two finalists have been involved in his recruitment longer, the safety is still impressed with the Pack.

“Personally, I think he’s doing a good job recruiting, but maybe just reaching out a little more probably will help a little bit,” Reddish said. “I definitely need to get back on campus, so that would be a big factor too.”

In addition to his summer trip to NC State, he hopes to return to Raleigh again this spring, learning more about the campus, NIL opportunities and other aspects of the program. Reddish also plans on visiting Wake Forest and Virginia Tech again soon.

The safety’s Wolfpack official visit in June is the final trip of his summer schedule so far.

“He asked if NC State can be the last scheduled official visit, so I just made it work,” Reddish said. “It kind of just fell into line because I’m going back to Virginia Tech for an official, hopefully, in May.

Wake Forest will also host him June 3. Reddish said those three trips will be critical in his decision-making process.

“[Official visits are] very important because I’m going to see who really is recruiting me the hardest,” Reddish said.

NC State leads the safety’s Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 51.9 percent. He is unranked by On3, but 247Sports and Rivals consider him a three-star prospect.
