3-star CB Ricky Knight: ‘Miami probably communicates the most’
Miami has kicked it up a notch in its recruitment of Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) The Benjamin School three-star 2024 cornerback Ricky Knight, who has locked in his official visit with the Hurricanes.
Knight, the No. 538 overall prospect in the class and No. 56 cornerback in the On3 Industry Ranking, is hearing from Miami more than any other program, including in-state rival Florida State. Knight will take an official visit to Coral Gables June 23 after taking official visits to Florida State June 9 and Illinois June 15.
The Hurricanes continue to lead for Knight in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with an estimated 70% chance to land the 6-foot-1, 167-pound corner.
“Honestly, Miami probably communicates the most,” Knight said. “They show the most love. …Right now, the Canes, I’m very interested in them. They’re a school I’m definitely looking at, and overall I feel like they love me a lot and they show it always. They really want to coach me for the next three to four years.”
Knight said the communication he has with a school isn’t the be-all end-all in his recruitment as long as he knows the school has interest in him, although it undoubtedly plays a factor. He said Florida State doesn’t talk to him every day, but he knows the Seminoles have interest in him, and he’s still considering Tallahassee as a possible landing destination.
Florida State was one of the first programs to jump on Knight’s recruitment and led in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for some time before the Canes took the lead. He’s visited Miami five total times this spring (four times in the last two months) and visited FSU twice.
Knight most recently visited Miami May 13 for the Hurricanes’ elite junior day, which was highlighted by a pool party at head coach Mario Cristobal’s house.
The three-star prospect said he wants to take all of his official visits before committing. He does not plan to visit any more programs unofficially before taking his three official visits in June but noted things can always change.
CaneSport’s Take
Miami’s aggressive recruiting push for Knight is starting to pay off.
It’s continuing to feel like the RPM is accurate with its projections. The Hurricanes have already been out to The Benjamin School for an evaluation visit and continue to love Knight as a prospect, and Miami certainly feels like the frontrunner.
