3-2-1: A look at potential transfer dominoes for Kansas State
THREE THINGS WE LEARNED ABOUT KANSAS STATE
2. MASSEY’S CHOICE: Instead of visiting Kansas, in-state offensive lineman Kaedin Massey will make the trip to Oxford to see Ole Miss. That is how much vitriol that staffer Jake Schoonover has for the Jayhawks after being demoted twice by Lance Leipold. He now works for Lane Kiffin and convinced the Kansas State target to see the Rebels instead of Kansas in June.
3. PRIMETIME: K-State may be slated for 11:00 a.m. CST kickoffs versus Southeast Missouri State and Troy to begin the 2023 season, but a primetime game is also already on the schedule. Though it is a Friday game this year, the Wildcats will play Oklahoma State in Stillwater at 6:30 p.m. CST. The Cowboys will be looking for payback after being drubbed 48-0 by Kansas State last year.
TWO QUESTIONS
1. WHERE ARE THE PLAYERS: I’m not even talking about players that Kansas State can land before the 2023-2024 season. Obviously, the Wildcats have three spots remaining, but a lot of other teams have three or more spots remaining, too. If you’re thinking the pool is too small for K-State to gather quality, consider how many teams are in the same boat. Something has to give, and I’m not sure what it will be at this point. But plenty of teams are in search of multiple players. It’s June, and not a lot remain available.
2. NKAMHOUA: Who knows where he will land at this point. The once Kansas State transfer target was thought to be deciding between West Virginia and Baylor, but it is being reported that Michigan is back in the mix. The best case scenario for K-State is for the Bears to land Olivier Nkamhoua so that Grant Nelson chooses Alabama. That set of dominoes would make transfer target Arthur Kaluma more attainable.
ONE K-STATE PREDICTION
1. KALUMA: Will visit
