2026 4-star TE Ryder Mix commits to Oklahoma Sooners
Frisco (Texas) Lone Star 2026 four-star tight end Ryder Mix has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Mix chose the Sooners over Texas A&M and Ohio State.
He is the nation’s No. 296 overall prospect, No. 12 tight end and No. 36 recruit in Texas in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Mix is the second prospect to join Oklahoma’s 2026 recruiting class. San Antonio Steele top-50 four-star running back Jonathan Hatton Jr. pledged to the Sooners back in October. Hatton took part in the Houston Under Armour camp back in March and spoke with On3 about his commitment.
“I feel like I found home and I was just thinking ‘why wait until Sr. year if I can commit now if I already know where I want to go?’,” Hatton told On3.
Big visit weekend for 2025 class
Oklahoma already has a commitment from the top receiver in its own state, but the Sooners are recruiting top targets from around the country to fill out their class.
Earlier this spring, their commit list included four-star Jaden Nickens from Oklahoma City Douglass High, but he chose to decommit in March. His decision leaves four-star Elijah Thomas as OU’s only receiver in the class as the summer recruiting calendar heats up.
This weekend, they are welcoming a pair of pass-catchers who rank among the best in the country: Homestead (Fla.) star Cortez Mills and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei‘s Marcus Harris. Each ranks among the top 20 wide receivers in the country in the On3 Industry Ranking.
Mills has been a target of the Sooners for some time, visiting Norman for the first time in April.
My first visit to OU was great,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons at the time. “They showed a lot of love and showed me I’m a top priority to their program. The atmosphere was amazing.”
The 6-foot-0, 165-pound Mills came away with a good first impression of the staff in Norman.
“My first impression is that the staff is locked in on being there for a while,” he said. “Coach (Brent) Venables and Jones made it clear that everyone here is here with a purpose and not just for a job title.”
Mills plans to commit in July and is in the midst of a stretch of official visits that also includes Clemson (May 31), Florida (June 7), and Miami (June 21).
Harris emerging as a target this summer
Harris, meanwhile, told Simmons earlier this week he was planning to focus on three schools going forward: Georgia, Oregon and UCLA.
He logged an official visit to Georgia last month and took a surprise OV to UCLA last weekend. He was set to see Oregon this weekend and Texas later this month, but the only official left on his schedule for now is a trip to Norman.
The Sooners offered Harris last summer, but didn’t look to be one of his main contenders over the past year. After trending toward Texas earlier this spring, Harris looks to again be open to programs.
In the end, the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder is looking to get developed and get to the next level. That will be a major factor when the time to make a decision rolls around.
“Playing early doesn’t really mean anything to me. I would like to get developed,” Harris said.
