2025 tight end Micah Jones talks upcoming visits, favorites and decision timeframe

2025 tight end and On3 three-star prospect Micah Jones has been able to unofficially visit a few SEC programs this spring. The Madison Central High School standout holds several SEC offers and is among the top tight ends in the Southeast region.

Jones noted of his spring visits thus far and is hoping to get back to another Magnolia State program before the spring period concludes. Jones is rated as the nation’s No. 24 tight end and the state’s No. 11 prospect by On3.

“This spring I have been to Ole Miss, Florida, Alabama and LSU,” recalled Jones. “I am not 100 percent sure what is next. I have been trying to get back to Mississippi State and I plan to be at their spring game Saturday.”

Looking towards the summer, Jones does have one official visit set so far. He also has other possible official visits in mind, which could make for a busy slate for Jones.

“So far I have one official visit set up,” the 6-foot-5 and 220-pound Jones noted. “And I have a couple pending right now. I will be at Florida on May 31st and I am also looking at Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas and Mississippi State and Colorado.”

Since head coach Jeff Lebby and his staff arrived in Starkville, Jones has been a top priority for the Bulldogs. He has built a good relationship with tight ends coach Jon Cooper and naturally, State is working to get Jones back on campus.

“It’s been good with Mississippi State’s staff,” remarked Jones. “I’ve been in touch with Coach Jon Cooper every week and Coach Lebby, too. Coach Cooper has been trying to get me back up there. He’s been telling me that he wants me there for their spring game on April 20th.”

Also with the arrival of Lebby, State’s offense has put more of an emphasis on the tight end position. That includes being a major part of Lebby’s high-tempo offensive attack and Jones has been told that often by Lebby and company.

“I know Coach Lebby uses the tight ends in his offense,” Jones added. “He is coming with a more explosive offense than the last couple of years. They said they want to use the tight ends different than Mississippi State used them before. They want their tight ends more involved in the passing game this year.”

In the near future, Jones plans to narrow down his list of favorites. He also has a decision timeline in mind and noted of a few schools already catching his attention.

“I will make my decision around the August, September area,” mentioned Jones. “Right now the schools standing out are the ones I have visited this spring and that’s because I have seeen them. That’s Ole Miss, Florida, Alabama and LSU. Then I also have three other schools I am looking at – Mississippi State, Arkansas and Colorado.”
